Yeah, not like this is a place for discussions. Hopefully it will be possible to find these posts in a few years!
Other clubs transfer thread (Jan 2015 edition)

So that leads to the conclusion that the level of talent doesn't matter. If you go there, you're screwed. If that was the case, and Ødegaard went for the money, surely anyone can understand that he would get more money by going to Arsenal, because he would get a better career. Of all the clubs in La Liga, Real Madrid's academy creates the most of their players.
It's okay to have an opinion, and I don't expect people to watch the Norwegian league, but it's no point of talking like they know they're right. Gurgen says the kid is ruined for life. Probably without knowing that he still will be living with his dad who's trained with Martin every day since he was 6 years old and would never let Martin jeopardize his own career for a solid first salary. Probably without knowing how down to earth and determined this guy is. Those who see every interview and watch every match believe in this guy.He didn't choose the money. He has tremendous belief in his own ability, and rightly so. He decided that Barcelona was not an option immediately after visiting them by the way, while Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid remained the final options. Do you honestly think either Liverpool or Arsenal offered more than Barcelona? More than Bayern? If we're to believe media, like most people here seem to do, Bayern offered more than Real Madrid.
That might be true but how many chances do they give their own players.
How many chances did Madrid give to Negredo, Soldado, Mata, Javi Garcia, Juanfran, Diego Lopez (The first time around he got 2 league appearances till the age of 26)
Family don't always make the best calls in football. For instance Anelka managed by his brothers who went to the exact same club.
Many people are saying Madrid are a bad option for a reason. The last attacking player they developed from quite raw to the finished product was Higuain from 2007 and even then he for about 12m and was 20.
It's not a huge surprise for Arsenal to offer more money than Barcelona. Cesc took a pay cut to go to Barcelona.
Anyways the football forum is a more relevant place for this topic.

All of those players are evidence that you can turn out good even if you play for Real Madrid at a young age - not the opposite. Whether he turns good at Real Madrid or somewhere else doesn't really matter, only the result. As long as they sell them or loan them out and don't just sit on them until it's too late, no damage is done.
Like I said, I think Ødegaard will do just fine at Real Madrid. He's young and a lot, both good and bad, can happen, but there is something about him. When you see him play, he is one of those few players who seem to have all the time in the world on the ball. I would say he is miles ahead of someone like Zelalem, who I think has a bright future here.
Agree with that. Looks a super talent
By the way Kel Crowley is better than Zelalem
Haven't seen much of Crowley tbh. Only heard good things.
Real Madrid to sign young Brazilian central midfielder Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro.
The fee is around 15 million euros.
That the same fella we were heavily linked with?

All of them developed and broke through playing regular games for other teams not at Madrid.
And who's to say they could have developed more if they'd been playing more regularly at a younger age. And for those that broke through there are hundreds more that didn't.
The other thing is that they were all on Madrid's youth contracts hence reasonable for other clubs to loan. Odegaard's salary would be among the highest for many teams in La Liga.
Yeah, the same guy.
Jasard wrote:Madrid signed Martin Odegaard. So that's like 8 players they have developing for the same position that they won't ever use because they will just buy someone for 50 million instead.
Seems like Madrid isn't stopping signing wonderkids. Seems like they now want Hachim Mastour from AC Milan next.
Salah to move on loan to Roma. Permanent deal in the summer for 11m.
They want to sell Schurrle also to facilitate move for Cuardrado.
I genuinely hope they don't sign Cuadrado. I'd take him here in a heartbeat, unless we can get Reus of course.
My list of preferences for a winger in the summer:
Reus
Cuadrado
Memphis
Cuadrado is nothing special.
Poor man's Gervinho

The same fella who got linked with us, so Real Madrid would pay up.
That's what I figured too.
When he becomes good we get to say that we were close to signing him.
Cuadrado is class. He'd be ace for us on the left wing, and he is also very versatile.
