What annoys me the most must be when people haven't even seen this guy play and says "Well, now he'll never become anything". To say things like that is to take his talent out of the equation. It's basically to say that no matter how good you are, if you go to Real Madrid you can't succeed. Madness.
Its because they've seen these things before countless times. Plenty of talented teens don't turn into world class players. Especially ones at Real Madrid.
So that leads to the conclusion that the level of talent doesn't matter. If you go there, you're screwed. If that was the case, and Ødegaard went for the money, surely anyone can understand that he would get more money by going to Arsenal, because he would get a better career. Of all the clubs in La Liga, Real Madrid's academy creates the most of their players.
It's okay to have an opinion, and I don't expect people to watch the Norwegian league, but it's no point of talking like they know they're right. Gurgen says the kid is ruined for life. Probably without knowing that he still will be living with his dad who's trained with Martin every day since he was 6 years old and would never let Martin jeopardize his own career for a solid first salary. Probably without knowing how down to earth and determined this guy is. Those who see every interview and watch every match believe in this guy.
He didn't choose the money. He has tremendous belief in his own ability, and rightly so. He decided that Barcelona was not an option immediately after visiting them by the way, while Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid remained the final options. Do you honestly think either Liverpool or Arsenal offered more than Barcelona? More than Bayern? If we're to believe media, like most people here seem to do, Bayern offered more than Real Madrid.
