He got beaten a couple of times but then he had the pace to recover so it's not really an issue.

I think we look for perfection a bit too much sometimes, which is ironic given we've been treated to Flamini for most of the past year.

Matuidi isn't more physical than Coquelin and his stats show him as one of the best in the league for duels won. He bashed fellaini about as well.

I reckon that people see his size and make assumptions that aren't based on reality.

Jeez i haven't been in Arsenal Talk for a while.

Not sure if Coquelin is a long term answer but what a story he's been. At the very least we've plucked a quality squad player out of nowhere. Could be a very useful player for us if he keeps a good attitude.

Easily been the best player. He has made Cazorla and everyone else look miles better since he came in.

He's taller than Matuidi and only 2cm shorter than Vidal (wiki stats). I think he's fine in the challenge tbh, and aggression is just as important as mass imo.

if it's about size, matuidi is even smaller.

To be fair, Coquelin WAS pretty rash in his tackling, even when he first started playing for us this season.

Yeah, that's a hell of a performance. Credit to the guy, he's played pretty well in important games and has probably sewn up the DM spot for next season.

It still feels surreal to watch him turn up this way in big games. You always had the feeling that he was good enough on talent alone, but he went off the boil pretty badly for a few years. During his loan to Freiburg he ranked among the 5-10 worst players in the entire Bundesliga when Kicker did a list.

His turn around has been amazing. I still worry that he could have peaks and throughs in form though.
