Cavani nowadays is not the sure thing the way he was when he left Napoli, but I'd still spend a good chunk of money to get him. Would be willing to sell off a couple of starters to make it happen even.

He has been played out of position, not being the main avenue of attacking, is low on confidence, and still has put up more than decent figures in France. Get him some love and a major role in a team, and I'm confident he will return to being the absolute beast he was in Italy. What a waste of a few years his excursion to Paris has been.

giroud was injured and as soon as he came back to fitness he immediately took welbeck out and put giroud in. now, welbeck isnt cavani, but i highly doubt wenger is going to sign another 9 unless the player is absolutely head and shoulders above giroud, which cavani isnt

Oh, I don't think we are even in for Cavani. I have come to terms with Wenger going with Giroud for quite a while yet. It has certainly helped to swallow that pill when Giroud has played so well. That's why I bang on the Reus drum so hard!

If we had Cavani he would start. He scored more than Giroud last year and he's scored more this year despite playing out of position. He's still a step up as a centreforward. The more likely scenario is that he's heading for United though, and we'll end up regretting that.

I'd puke a little bit if Man U sign Cavani and Hummels this summer. Would take some major moves from us to get my hopes up we can really challenge for the title next season.

Not that special considering Giroud's injury. Giroud scored more than Cavani does now in the French league when he was a lesser player than today. Those who want Cavani also seem to ignore that when Zlatan is injured, Cavani doesn't impress as a CF either.

Firstly Cavani plays at the wing position and secondly one wouldn't find form if you're only given really sporadic opportunities up-top in a system tailored for Zlatan. Henry, Tevez and Villa scored less on the wing too. Gervinho scored more goals than Ronaldinho in Ligue 1. That too when he was a lesser player than today. Hence Gervinho is better than Ronaldinho.

Hmm, look, I don't really buy into this "Cavani is shit" stuff, I'd take him, I think we'd all be over the moon if we actually signed him. In the case of Giroud, it would put a player already pretty much at his peak on notice.

I just wouldn't be particularly comfortable about breaking the bank for Cavani.

The performances in France aren't even as significant as the decision to move to play in France. It's hard to take players that do that for the money seriously, since as the many comments in this thread recognise, Ligue 1 is not a strong league.

Depends on the price required - if it's 40m+ whilst Higuain is around 30m then I'd take the latter. However if it's less than 40m then I'd jump.
