21 year old 6'3 defender, who currently plays LB but has potential to develop into CB. Originally from Southamptons academy, but was released when they went into administration. Wouldnt have started a new thread for this, but its Jeremy Wilson and this would fit bang into our current transfer philosophy. Basically sounds like a left sided Chambers.

Jenkinson-Chambers-Mings-Gibbs backline in 3 years!

21 year old big bloke defender who was player of the month in the Championship for September? Hmm. Never heard of the guy, which ticks another box of a typical Wenger signing I guess. 🙂

Confirmed interest by Wenger. He's another product from Southampton.

Anyone seen the boy play? Has an impressive physique and barnet

Where is it confirmed that Wenger is interested?

He was asked about Mings in today's press conference, apparently.

I've never seen the kid play but we have no potential really at left back and if he came in for a season while we still had Monreal it could work well. My worry though is that Wengers gonna start collecting fullbacks like attacking mids and ignoring centre halfs like centre forwards.

Its fine, we have cm's that can fill at centre back and wingers that can do a job as strikers #totalfootball #notreally

We don't need any more kids. Pass.

I agree it's not ideal but it's really hard to find top defensive players right now. I think Real Madrid are the only club totally happy with their center backs, for instance. Barca/Chelsea/United all wanted a CB this summer and couldn't find a good option. It's not like people here are coming up with a ton of names on the wishlist either. Hummels is a Kos clone, Godin isn't leaving Atletico for Arsenal. So Chambers/Mings and other young signings might be the way to go.

I am all for this. No top class CB is going to come in and be happy with 4th choice so he is ideal. He can play at LB too which is a huge plus considering how injury prone Gibbs is.

Why would a top class CB be 4th choice to begin with? Wouldn't a top class CB be a starter for us?

Yeah, we need a Mertesacker upgrade if we want to get to the point of winning things. Hard to find though.

I'm all for buying young talent. Haven't seen this kid play though

Not a particularly impressive match comp. Looks more like an LCB to me, and a bit of a project.

Because I believe there is no chance Arsene will find someone to replace Per or Kos. He won't risk the harmony of the squad and he have too much trust in them. He can't even keep Vermaelen happy last season.

Tyrone Mings? 😆

Is that a real name?
