#Deadline Day Summer 2014 - will Wenger do a madness?

A lot of people will be feeling very differently in the not too distant future. Welbeck can be a serious forward in a team like ours.

Dont think we'll ever sign a ready made striker, there's just too much competition for that type of player. We've had little trouble finding Ozil and Alexis so i don't think it's anything we're doing wrong.

Young striker was on my wish list from the beginning.

Welbeck is an ok player. If he settles in and improves as a player, he could be quality up front. A bit raw, but some interesting abilities. If he doesn't settle in, we'll sell him in a few years. This signing is neither great nor terrible.

But we need to bring in a CB. What the hell is going on atm?

I'm not overly thrilled with this acquisition either but some of these reactions are way OTT. Reckon if his name was Daniele Welbeckirini from Roma and the Italian NT there'd be a lot more enthusiasm.

People also seem to be forgetting what kind of players Arsenal buy. Bergkamp, Henry, Ozil, Sanchez were all deemed surplus to requirements at top clubs, class players or not

I hope he gets a run upfront, he'll surprise you all.

He's pretty much a project at this point though and I still hope we go out in January or next summer and bring in a world class striker.

It's not about potential. It's about reliability. They'll score a similar no. of goals this season anyway.

Welbeck is a decent signing, but it stinks that we are feeding off United scraps after they wrap up Falcao.

Balotelli definitely has more potential and talent but I'd say he's far less likely to fulfil it. People go on about his antics but it's his attitude on the field that's more telling than anything else. He's exasperate our issues with movement up top and closing down.

Agree with this, Welbeck is a very good squad player, probably slightly behind Remy atm but with more potential. Unfortunately I really do fear this is going to be our striking options for the next few seasons sorted

They're very strong in that position so there's nothing wrong with it. They would've been ecstatic with Vermaelen and he wasn't good enough for us.
