Bar winning a European title to match the two domestic ones he's had as good a season as any player could hope for.

Seems as if he's enjoying his football at Lille plus he has guaranteed CL football next season, something none of the clubs associated with him in that article can offer.

Looking at the French Ligue 1 team of the season - there are a few names that have been linked to us.

Out of that list Gameiro would theoretically be a good fit in our squad. Has some attributes that we're missing, like bags of pace and a mean poaching sense. Word is that he's off to Valencia this summer though.

Speaking of Lorient, I just saw that Amalfitano grabbed another assist the other day. He's gotta be somewhere around the top of the assist chart in Ligue 1 this season. The commentators said a while back that his deal expires at the end of the season. You'd imagine that Wenger is keeping track of him in that case, especially if we're losing Denilson and Rosicky this summer.

I don't rate Amalfitano. Every time I've watched Lorient I've wanted to kill him at least once for being a greedy, selfish twat.

He's just the hub their attacking game is built around. They're supposed to channel play through him. You don't get a lot of creativity out of a midfield with players like Mvuemba, Romao and Jouffre. I'm looking at the ESPN charts right now and he's got 10 assists this season. Hardly the trademark of someone who's extremely greedy.

I'm not saying we should sign him, by the way. It just strikes me as a deal that Wenger would be interested in.

Shame Rami already moved to Valencia. Would have been a great buy for us.

I keep hearing that about Rami, but I've watched him maybe 7 or 8 times for Lille this season, and there's no way he's anywhere near good enough for us. So clumsy and slow, and far from a monster in terms of strength or in the air. (The current) Valencia side looked about his level to me.

Samba's French and you want him. He's also a much better player than Rami in my opinion, and I'm not his overly impressed with him either.

He used to be French, he's Congolese now. I'd make an exception for any French defender who's been doing a good job in the Premiership for 4 seasons and isn't a complete cunt (that means not Gallas or Evra)

John Cross in The Mirror reckons we want both Hazard and Gervinho, and he's saying we think we can get Hazard for £12M. Only way I could see that being possible is if the new contract he signed about 3 months ago had a clause inserted into that if they won the League he'd be allowed to leave for a reduced fee (or something similar to that). If we got him for anything like that it'd be outrageous.

Didn't Hazard confirm that he won't be leaving Lille this summer anyway? If so, we're never going to get him.

No, on the pitch right after the League win he said he had everything he wanted at Lille, but added a fair few caveats to that. One of his team mates said Hazard had told him it was 50/50 whether he leaves or not, and that he had offers from just about every major cub you could name, us included.
