they won the CL not too long ago, and if you ask the average footballer who the most prestigious clubs in england are, they'll say united, liverpool and recently, chelsea (money talks). all that bullshit about the kop, anfield, YNWA, etc. the average guy doesn't read up on the financial reports which clearly show that arsenal is the bigger club. they just know that liverpool has the 2nd most english league titles and buys players like mascherano, torres, reina, etc, whereas arsenal doesnt come close to that and buys 19 yr olds.

And yet, not a single big foreign player mentions Liverpool when asked where they would like go. Not even a young star with potential.

By the by. They got suarez and aquilani, who at the time was highly rated

Indeed. That's why I feel it is vital we successfully bid for a big name player this summer.

No one would pick Liverpool over Arsenal as a career move if given the choice. Not even Jamie Carragher.

They've also lost Torres and Mascherano since. Reina wasn't the world's best keeper when he signed for them either. They won the CL when we last won a trophy. They've dropped out of the CL for two seasons in a row, haven't won the league in 20 years. Haven't won a trophy in 5 years. Oh and they very nearly went bankrupt in the midst of all that. Moreover, I would be hesitant to say that those who go to Liverpool come out a better player. Also, what an average player 'might' say is pure conjecture based on your impression of Liverpool and, perhaps, Arsenal's failure.

I'm with Capi, serious insecurity complex going on.

That's been the way of A-M forever, as soon as the season ends and we haven't won a trophy, the consensus always seems to be "we're rubbish" and then everything about the club is questioned or called poor/unacceptable. Frustrates me no end.

99.9% of this club is absolutely fantastic! It really is.

That annoys me too, if everything was wrong we wouldn't get so close the whole time. There's just a couple of things.

They got them because they paid big for them and the bigger, richer clubs weren't interested.

Harry Kewell did! What a waste of talent he was.

I agree, all this hysteria detracts from where the problem lies.

Anyway, it's impossible to say what Hazard really thinks. For all I know his old man may well have been a massive Liverpool fan during the glory days. But my impression is that if you don't follow English football closely, you'd know as much about Anfield as I do about the Milan-Inter rivalry or Olympiakos-Panathinaikos. You may have heard about it but it leaves you cold inside.

Although, I could have gone on to mention the way Torres and Mascherano treated that club, Torres in particular, would definitely not have gone unnoticed across Europe. Aquilani is another player whose career took several steps backwards after joining Liverpool, he was unlucky but was shipped off pretty sharpish. Daglish has done a good job but it's a reflection of how poor Liverpool were under Hogson as well. People talk about the 'relegation form' that we showed during the past couple months but that was the story of Liverpool's season till January and during parts of last season and the same players still remain. He's got plenty to do to get that club to the level they were two years ago, never mind winning the league.

I agree, our attacking line-up is already footballing perfection :p

Hazard is Ligue 1 player of the year.

From what I've seen that's fully deserved. Just hope we can get him in.
