he looks good. there's no doubt about that. i could see him starting at CB or RB for us, which is a great thing to have. not convinced he'd be a great DM - that's a whole different ballgame.

Did Jenkinson improve at all while he was here?

Hate to sound like Chris Waddle but Jenko lacks a football brain. Good technical and physical qualities but half the time he just doesn't understand where he should be.

Arteta was annoyed with him at one point last season because he wouldn't make himself available for the pass.

He has a great attitude, he's athletic and pretty comfortable on the ball. Think he'll be a star for us. Per will be on the bench sometime in the near future.

Edit: he's a central defender. No doubt about it.

agree, but could see him used at RB this season if he proves to be better than debuchy there, and mertesacker's form doesn't drop

Hope we sign a good centre half, not comfortable with Chambers as first choice cover. Made a few big mistakes in the last 2 games that someone like Vermaelen would have been crucified for. Its to be expected for a guy who has played about 20 senior games at right back.

Chambers really excites me. So great to have a proper English cb prospect.

I'd like to see him in midfield. His passing through the lines is really good, his passing in general is good, he is calm under pressure and is good on the ball. I think he could potentially be top class in that position.

Hmm, perhaps. positioning and anticipation is key in that role though. That may not come naturally to him.

He's not a RB really but it's insane how reliable he's been. He's 19 and just got here!

What makes you say he's not a RB? Apart from a couple of weeks in the last 2 months he's spent his whole career at RB. Looked very comfortable there today too. Must be one of the best teenage players in the world.

His technical skill makes him look comfortable in any position, but he is not a natural right back. He still looks really awkward at times.

He said it before he is a central player, but there was no opportunity for him so he had to play a right back to break through into the first team. Best comparison I can think of is Sergio Ramos, comfortable at right back but best at centre.

Well maybe he will be better somewhere else in the future but at the moment he's the best right back we've got.

I was thinking that too - actually I was sorry he didn't play at Dortmund. Maybe would not have changed anything on the night but seems to me it would have been the better decision.

He also "may not be a natural RB" (TBH I'm not sure what that really means) but he doesn't seem to be out of place there, and being a good defender already it is very likely to assume
he'd improve in that position too with experience. He's 19 (though it is really hard to believe watching him play). This is not easy and I guess it wouldn't be a popular decision, but I'd play him even ahead of Debuchy
(at least when the defensive part is more required - for the bigger game, in general).
