Worst case Shaw is a flop and gets sold for a pittance in a few years and Utd spend another fortune on someone else to replace him.

Yep. Shaw will be decent. Don't rate him as much as some and don't think he'll reach the level Evra did but then that's a high bar

United can afford it but I still think its a ridiculous fee. No coincidence that the ridiculous fee is matched by insane wages.

According to that Southampton forum: Apparently it's around £4m up front, further £4m next year, and the rest on league wins, league apps, cup wins, international apps and CL apps. It looks a lot, but is actually very heavily based around achievements

I liked the little I saw of Chambers last season. Reading that Southampton board, most people seem to think he's going to be awesome in the future. This sounds agreeable to me.

Wenger saying he knows it's a lot of money for someone so inexperienced but he likes his quality and he'll provide cover at cb, RB and midfield. Hopes he'll boost competition

So I recon no defensive mid but wengs will go balls out for another mad attacker. He said at the start of the summer our attack wasn't up to scratch.

Expect reus, Douglas Costa, or such like

Who the hell is Douglas Costa?

Reckon Chambers is the last of our signings tbh.

😆 Even after the window we've had so far you're still so paranoid. Ease up buddy! Times are changing and according to all the ITK's we've got one or two more lined up.

I'm not paranoid just thinking about the squad we have. Wilshere, arteta, flamini, chambers, diaby can all play there

I'm chuffed with the window even if we sign no more

Typical wenger, has to gamble on a position.

19yr old to provide competition for dm position. Yeah right..

He talked about him already? Can you link?

Ah sorry bud, it was in reply to the prof.

I think we'll see one more biggish signing and a depth signing. Probably not Sanchez level but 20-25 mill. Whether that's on an attacker or a defensive mid I don't know. I'm with you though, neither would really surprise me.

‘He hasn’t played many games but the English players on the market in England are very expensive,’ he said.

‘At the end of the day I was ready to take a gamble because he is a one for the future. He is a player I wanted because I rated his quality and intelligence. He is only 19 and can play at centre-back, right-back and central midfield. I hope he will give us competition for the players in those three positions.’

Can definitely see us signing a DM, we've been linked to quite a few.

This is another nice vid. Varied

Very impressive. Balanced player

Impressive, taking on Sagna at 2:00

Think that's it, hope I'm wrong though as it could cost us

Surprising signing if it happens but good to see us for once taking the risk and getting the player the season before he might cost 30 million, instead of waiting and missing out to United/City/Chelsea. Are Southampton going to be able to field a team in 3 weeks time? Lovren to Liverpool too.

PA reporter says announcement today

Is he a better choice than Clyne if we're getting a new promising RB?

Yes. Clyne is rapid and very useful going forward but he's no where near as defensively capable

He's got a really awkward passing technique. It's like he's using his weaker foot every time. Hopefully it's just a weird physiological trait without any negative impact on his actual performance, rather like RvP or Pires' running style or Phil Jones' face.

Well, he's even pissing money away on one of his old fashioned projects.

Looks a proper player in that video. Excited to see what Wenger does with him.

I thought he was going to be our future RB but when I check him out more he seems more of a DM/CB who can do a job at RB.

Dunno, looks too sluggish/awkward to play in midfield or full back to me, could be wrong.

Thats exactly what I feel watching most of his videos. Looks technically too awkward, but can be a fantastic CB because he is very strong defensively.

Not saying he will be as good, but there's a little Sergio Ramos in him.

FA.com journo says done. 5 year contract.
