got his head turned this summer and then we didnt stump up the cash. he was probably really bummed. sure, that is a sign of immaturity, but if you were playing in a lesser league and the club you dreamed of playing for was supposedly in for you, then your club didnt sell because they wanted more money, youd probably be bummed too.

The league in Portugal is so average I wouldn't be interested in anyone performing well at the top 3. You have to be exceptional or doing it at the garbage clubs to get some recognition, even players like hulk got compared to WC players based on his stats and he is truly garbage.

It's obviously a risk getting players from Portugal but there are plenty of successes too. It's not somewhere Wenger typically shops though.

Hulk is beyond poo, guy has looked overweight, lacking technique at international level and hasn't ever played in a top league.

Falcao hasn't been good for 3 seasons running now and doesn't look worth the touted fee at all, Costa showed him up after he left.

Point is there are some good players in Portugal and Holland, but those hitting numbers there don't reliably translate well to top league.

just depends on the player. suarez's dutch numbers proved to be legit. not so much for mateja kezman. at the end of the day, you just have to watch the guys play.
