GOtze Germany! Did it with 9 men since Kroos was doing his best to set up Arg and Ozil was a glorified Throw In taker. Hard luck Arg but you had chances, ultimately denied by a solid defensive effort from Hummels, Howedes, Schweinsteger and Boateng who stepped up!

Proof

I thought the Argentinian coach made some bad decisions playing both Palacio and Aguero. In particular because their defense was gassed and Aguero gave them nothing the entire tournament he was the biggest bust. That ended up costing them in the end.

Lionel Messi deserved the Golden Ball, he's a special player and had a good tournament. He carried the team and was decisive in all Argentina's matches bar the semis.

They made a bit of a mess of handing over the trophy too. Between Blatter and the Brazilian president they didn't seem to know where to stand or who was handing it over so they kind of both did it. Should have been Pele probably. Often happens in finals in all sports that the actual handing over of the trophy is the only thing that doesn't seem to have been planned.
