I'm a big fan of stadium design. Here is Roma's proposed new home. i love the idea of a hydraulic lift to enable the players to enter the arena gladiator style.

Anyone remember the old "guess which stadium this is from the aerial photograph" game someone - Alf? - used to run on A-M?

That was fun.

Any favourite stadia from Brazil? I must admit I'm not that fussed by the look of the Maracana. It just looks too shallow and wide. I prefer the one in Brasilia - everyone looks close to the ground and the stands are relatively steep, which provides a better, more raucous atmosphere.

Was really impressed by Salvador's stadium (lucky to attend a match).

Hydraulic lift? Idea is good, but won't be feasible. Too much fuss and costs.

Hydraulic gladiator-esque lift would be epic.

Giroud would love it!

Have to say though that the design of that new Roma stadium above doesn't look anything special.

There's a great stadium built next to a mountain, can't remember the name though. I like the outer casing of the Allianz stadium at night, very dramatic and colour is customisable.

Not a football stadium, but the most striking sports ground in the world has to be Newlands cricket ground in Cape Town, with the mountain in the back drop. Truly stunning. Have to go there one day.

Would love to visit these.
The Float; pitch is built on the water, and the pic is taken from the 30k stand.

Braga stadium. Just seems amazing.

Was just going to say Braga in response to Tim's post about Newlands. The view from the pitch is even more sensational.

That's the stadium I was thinking of, insane location but great spectacle.

The floating platform has never been used for football by us. Its used more for concert and f1.

Would be great to see a proper match there!

No chance now, our new national stadium has just reopened.

starting in the 90s, the big trend for US baseball stadiums was to go retro - brick and steel and ivy vines. everything right now is a glass, concrete and steel bowl - i wonder if someone will go retro and build 4 stands but with state of the art design.

i guess from a financial standpoint, it doesnt make sense to leave the corners empty. but even stylistically, it would be nice to get away from glass and concrete.

Melbourne stadium precinct.

Clrnc you're from Singapore? 🙂

Was there in March. Absolutely loved it.

Yeah!

Surprised quite a number of Gooners here have visited Singapore. What do you love the most about our place?

I've been to Singapore twice, my aunt and uncle were expats there for a few years. The food was probably my favourite thing, went to a few great hawker markets! Sentosa and Bintan were cool too.
