Not even the ref will save the Brazilians against Germany. There was no chance a team spearheaded by Fred was ever going to win the WC anyway. He makes Giroud look world class.

Germany have looked awful since the early groupstages. France had the upper hand yesterday by the time Hummels scored. You can only be bailed out so many times by a defender.

We'll have a boring, scoreless 120 minutes to look forward to here. Scolari will start Gustavo and Paulinho while Löw will go with Lahm in midfield and no striker up front. And in the end Brazil will go through on penalties.

Can't stand this Brazil side. Boring, unimaginative, cheating, set pieces based side. Hope Germany kill them in the semi final.

No at all. Germany were always in control.

As for "no striker" Muller has scores more than most strikers so it makes little difference. Germany are controlled but they are in no way a negative side.

Yep Scolari set the one by having his team at very aggressively. When you do that you have to accept the consequences.

Now Brazils only player worth watching is out.

Well Rodriguez survived the game with his back intact.
Colombia were just as dirty as Brazil, the blame lies squarely with the ref.

Originally thought it was unintentional (not that it really matters), but it looks quite deliberate there with the way the knee stabs the back.

Just read the news. Unfortunate.

Zuniga was their hatchet man. It was definitely a deliberate knee in the back.

It was clear both sides set out to play a very physical game from the very start.

Referee fucked up. He could have controlled the game much much better.

Shame for the World Cup to lose Neymar, esp at this stage of the tournament.

It didn't look intentional to me when it happened, and it still doesn't; Zuniga is looking at the ball the whole time.

It's intentional. He wouldn't have kept his balance otherwise.

It clearly intentional, he's not following the flight of the ball at all.
He only sees where it's gone once he's taken Neymar out.

The challenge is pretty much identical to the one Fernandinho put in on Rodriguez in the first half too. Keep harassing our star and we're going to harass yours. Neymar was a marked man.

I don't like the underlying tone that somehow justice was served and Neymar deserved that because of the crimes of his fellow team mates.

I don't like it either. It's been plain to see that opponents have targeted him with ugly challenges since the World Cup started too. Most people seemed surprised, if anything, that he had managed to last all the way through to the quarter final.

It says something about the state of football when nobody expects the star of the home country to go more than 4 games without getting seriously injured.

He gets plenty of protection just as much as everyone else. Why should he be made a special case?
