Just happy and relieved to know that Jenkinson won't walk into the position.
Mathieu Debuchy (Latest: Reports of medical)

maybe we just overrate our own players. i'm watching the game right now and it just hit me that of the 3 (the 4th couldn't even make a weak england team) first team defenders we sent to the world cup none of them are starting.
Mert was sick and Dechamps decision not to start Kos cost them the game.
This sucks. Better have Schneiderlin/Alexis/a striker coming. If Koscielny and/or Mertesacker have injury problems next year we'll have serious problems at the back. Szczesny, Gibbs, and Debuchy are all bang average players.
Arsenal can't take more than a couple steps forward without a step back, can they?
An underwhelming (we were always going to be with whoever did replace Sagna), but sensible signing really. Who else was there to get?
Aurier? He'd be away for 2 months at the ACON.
For one we could have given Sagna a real contract offer early on instead of pushing low-ball bullshit at him until City turned his head and we got desperate. If there's not a lot of RBs on the market and you don't have a target in mind, manage your current assets better. You think Sagna turns down our (reported) final offer of three years, £90k/week if we offer it to him last summer?
So who would you have signed instead of Debuchy then?
Coleman? Shoulda gone in for him nice and early.
He just said he would have given Sagna a decent contract before his head was turned. That question is for those that did not want Sagna to stay.
Happy with Debuchy. I think he'll be a good fit
You don't think he is too attacking and will leave Per hanging? My nightmare scenario is Debuchy getting caught up the pitch like a lot of attacking fullbacks often do and Per forced wide - we will leak goals like a sieve if that happens. Hope we get a defensive mid who can cover at RB - will also mean shifting Ramsey out onto the left of the midfield pairing.
Nope I think we'll get more from him going forward
We were lame on the offensive front
At first it seemed like an underwhelming signing, but in reality it isnt. He is at his prime, he knows the league, he is best mates with some of our players and he adds what we needed most last year. People who moan about him only look at the negatives compared to Bac, without considering the positives.

Coleman!
I can't imagine how people around here would react if we spent 25 mill on an outside back.
Debuchey is a decent transfer.
Yeah he is. He was very good at Lille, Newcastle fans rate him and he's had a good World Cup
Sign Bebuchy for experience and sign aurier as well. get rid of fenkinso, either on loan or as a deal.
I rather we sign Debuchy than Aurier. Thought Aurier was woeful defensively during the world cup.
looks like this is a done deal. not overly impressed, he's a clear downgrade on sagna imo. he makes more aggressive runs, thats about all he has over bac. glad its out of the way and we can move on to bigger fish.
Wonder if jenks will be used as cover for centreback. Think he'd make a good'un
if verms goes i could see jenks and flamini being used as utility cbs. i doubt we'd be buying a dedicated verm replacement, unlss it were a loan deal
Happy with Debuchy tbh.
