I remember his debut season where he produced this goalkeeping performance that I consider one of the greatest of all time in Champions League.
Is this actually a piss poor World Cup?

He is not just a stopper but an old school sweeper-keeper who also knows how to launch a counter attack.
Szczesny really should study this guy instead of practicing useless ball juggling skills.
Szczesny has made great improvements in every aspect of his game since his debut.
He gets a fair share of unfair criticism by some on here, but he has all the tools to be one of the very best in the world. At 24 he's just an infant when it comes to goalkeepers.
The group stages were fantastic, knockout rounds have been meh aside from Germany Brazil. Needs a good final to feel like it's all been worth it.
Done.
Predictable dull final rounds off a lacklustre tournie.
Not one moment in this World Cup to put you in awe.
Still, colourful fans and nice venues added to it.
Absolute farce that a minnow like Algeria has won it.
Good final.
North America was victorious in the end.
Roll on club football. We are fortunate wengs seems to be building a side which will play good attractive football. This World Cup has been about who can run hardest
8/10 would watch again
It was the fifth World Cup for me and definitely rank it as the best. Had been dreaming of going for a few years but just couldn't afford it in the end.
neuer is clearly the best keeper in the world, and it's ridiculous and unfair to even compare chesney to him. he's not in the same class, unless you are looking at him with absurdly arsenal-tinted glasses.
problem with the world cup is that single elimination games almost always end up cagey affairs that are boring to watch. even moreso because you have to wait 4 yrs to have another go.
Well it's you who started comparing them in the other thread.
Neuer's had a stellar World Cup and is probably the best 'keeper around these days, but that hardly makes Szczesny a worse goalkeeper than he is.
Managed to watch almost every game apart from when the last group games were played at the same time I chose one main one and kind of half watched bits of the other. Only game I missed entirely was Belgium-USA as I was en route to a work conference at the time and after avoiding the result all day my hotel room had half the sport channels but not the ones showing the World Cup so I couldn't see the evening replay.
Going to have to make up some time at work now though thanks to all the extra time and penalties!
Edit: Also happy Patters got to see a European team do well against a South American one in the end.
Pretty good, but short of amazing, world cup! Can't complain as it was far better than 2010 or 2006

Yep, all the best teams finished last in their groups.
Tournament was skewed towards Germany and Argentina.
Nil nil final.
Sure world cups are exciting by their very nature but this one was lacking.
No real standout player either. Hence the old default "give it to messi" thing
It needed someone like Chambo to light it up but injury robbed him
This world cup faded badly after the group stages surprisingly.
Still its one of the best I have seen though. Probably just loses out to 1998 though
Don't worry Dools, England will get to the QF in your lifetime.

I love Neuer's style; it's brave and extremely effective most of the time. Still, over the course of a long League season, for a team less dominant than Bayern are in their league, it could be very sticky for him a good number of times. Gonna make poor split-second decisions dozens of times through a season if you keep pushing yourself to have to. It's truly commendable on his part though because he stops a lot of strikers from having any chance at goal.

Done that already
Don't worry Armenia might qualify once in your lifetime.
Wouldn't count on it.
Might do.
It's the age of random ball
Armenia should try to get into Asia like Australia did.
It's piss easy to qualify from there.
Armenia is in Asia. I don't know who decided it's in Europe. Europe stops at the Bosphorus as far as I'm concerned. No Armenian would describe himself as European.
Ara Abrahamian would!
