Yeah, it's a smart approach. The likes of Iturbe and Lallana are wrested from smaller clubs for _£25m while an excellent player like Alexis is given away for _£30m. You have to be an appealing destination to make it work of course, which thanks to Wenger we are. It's unfortunately difficult to find a striker this way though. Özil, Alexis, Khedira - great midfield/creative types can fall through the cracks, but to get a top #9 you need to get your willy out.

Schneiderlin is certainly a classy player. Hope we get him if Khedira is really falling through. Like how they highlight him beating Mertesacker in the air by showing a quick shot of them scuffling side-by-side before the corner.

so kroos cost real 20m, he's 24 and world class. makes the alleged 20m+ for khedira whos not as good, injury prone, and older seem steep imo

It's funny how things work out. Signing cesc cost barca thiago. Signing thiago ment kroos was less pivotal and probably part of the reason he didn't renew last year. Now we may get Sami since he's behind kroos at real.

Guardiola killed every positive instinct in Kroos with his stupid attempt to turn the best team on the planet into Barcelona MKII. More likely, for me, is that Kroos hates everything Guardiola stands for and can't endure the thought of going through another season of that. He certainly didn't lack playing time last season, so I very much doubt Thiago enters into his decision.

buying Fabregas two years too early, selling Kroos, not knowing what to do with decent to great strikers (Mandzukic, Ibra), not buying defenders at Barca, etc. there's so much weird that's going on there
i'd like to see him go to a team like Juve and build a dominant side. i'm not convinced yet
