Am happy with either signing.....Or both...Ha, ha, ha....
Khedira is surrounded by the creme de la creme at RM and Germany as well as outstanding tactical managers...So I'm not too upset if we don't get him....

Marca says Arsenal/Real have agreed a €25m fee (fair price, about £20m), but still huge wage demands from Khedira's agent - €7m/year after tax. Not really sure where he's going with this, he has no chance of making that kind of money. You have to think those demands will come down soon though, Khedira does not want to go back to Madrid.

Looks like we'll get one of Schneiderlin or Khedira though, and it's hard not to be happy about that. If we sign the latter Wenger surely is considering 4-3-3 in big games, which isn't a bad idea IMO.

There is of course the possibility that Schneiderlin won't be sitting pretty waiting for us and instead signs with someone else, while we can't come to a solution with Khedira...

€7m net is what Marca reported. Not 100% sure how that calculation works but the top tax rate in England is 45%. So gross that's a little less than £200k/week.

€7 million gross sounds a lot more likely, no? Off the top of my head that's roughly €130K per week, or _£105K. That looks like an upper-medium level salary for a 27 year old midfielder on this level. We paid Walcott £100K, and that was 18 months ago. I bet that the contract extension Ramsey signed last season is somewhere in this region too, maybe a little higher.

Nah, I think schneiderlin is staying put. Southampton have sold enough of their players already that it would take a persistent effort from any team to pry him away from them. A month long affair, plenty of time for Arsenal to get its ducks in a row.

I'm a big fan of Schneiderlin, but if Wenger wanted him he would have made a big push last summer (or even in january) before Schneiderlin went and signed a contract extension. He would have sorted out a deal well before the World cup too; this is a player that could have been had at any point during the last 18 months.

Look, its real easy - Madrid are bringing in Kroos, which means they want to sell someone to recoup the fee they are paying. Khedira has 1 year left, will not be signing an extension and wants to leave. What gets reported in the meantime is pointless. He just arrived back to Europe today, it will take few days to get everything sorted, but its done. It was exactly the same with Sanchez (& Suarez).

We have had agents Per, Lukas and Mesut on the case all summer. These pictures they took together with their pants pulled up or Poldi screaming 'Arsenal' today are not coincidences. Everyone knows its happening or basically done. Whatever fills the papers in the meantime is journos trying to earn money, so ofcourse the deal is on/off stories get published as often as possible.

Yeah that's more reasonable, but 'net' is what is coming out of the Spanish press (causing negotiations to fall apart).

Klaus how would you see him fitting into the team? I can't see it unless we go to three in midfield. I don't see Khedira-Ramsey as a viable pairing, especially if we don't buy a center forward and are still reliant on Ramsey's bursts up front for goals.
