How can Vermaelen "verbally agree" a deal if they haven't spoken or agreed a fee with Arsenal.

Hernandez would bag 40 with Ozil feeding him

Er, no he wouldn't. Can't even get into Mexico's crappy team when he should be at his peak.

I wouldn't agree to this transfer if it is purely cash based, we don't need the money or hassle of having to sort out backup centre back.

:o I think I'm figuring out why you hate Giroud so much G89. You think if he was at the same level as the guys you rate like Bony and Lukaku, he'd be picking up 50 goals a season. 🙂

I've never talked about Bony joining the club although when you look at his record it is rather impressive. He'd probably score more than Giroud here but than so would many others who'd also be a better fit with Ozil.

Don't really buy the link, he wouldn't be guaranteed to get games there and why swap one bench for another

I think the whole point of this is that he would get the games there. Easier to keep Smalling and Jones out of the team than Kos and Mertesacker.

Right but he could move somewhere on the continent and get guaranteed games for most clubs. Maybe not at CL level but still

Everybody would score better than Giroud, apparently.
Once again I ask, with this amazing supply line, why aren't any of our other players scoring a damn?

I would rather let him leave on a free like Lewandowski than sell him.

Would be understandable had we done the business of replacing him. Too much to do this summer as it is.
The money is of absolutely no use to us when there is already 140m sitting there.

Thought our budget was 100 mill. The Funds are acquiring interest!?

Anyway. I don't mind selling him off to United if he's going for game time - he's obviously not likely to get much here, but we need to replace before we sell.

Just adds to Wenger's summer work load. Gwan Arsene, spend that 180 mill.

I don't think there are too many places he can move, be at a massive club, realistically hope for CL next season and get a big pay rise.

Have we been linked with any interesting CB's..? I am sure the club must have been prepared for this development and have potential replacements lined up.... or atleast scouted/evalauted etc!

there is some merit to selling an error-prone centre back who captains the team from the bench. only hope Wenger executes properly and brings in a very capable 3rd central defender. we can then hand over the captaincy to Ramsey or BFG

The rest are part of the supply line for the forward who's job it is to score just in case you forget. Among the ones that do tend to get on the end of chances- Podolski had a stellar rate but missed 4 months of the season and was eased in, Ramsey had an outstanding rate but missed 5 months and Walcott most of the season. Who else do you want to compare? Fabianski?

part of Giroud's problem is he has little to no support in scoring goals. these other guys need to start pulling their weight on the goalscoring front, and give defenders something else to think about.

Giroud's problem should be to worry about techniques not to get splinters in his ass from riding the pine, but I guess Wenger Knows.

anyway, back to Vermie. who would genuinely miss him if we got someone of, say, Smalling's quality?

The only reason I am not too keen on him leaving is that there would be so many signings to make. Have zero confidence our lot will get the job done.

you're talking about a transfer budget and ebouefan is referring to cash in the bank.
