Newcastle and West Ham currently in NZ for a pre-season tour to play Sydney FC and Wellignton Phoenix. Newcastle thrashed Sydney 4-0 on Tuesday night but last night Wellington pulled off an incredible 2-1 win over a pretty much full strength West Ham side. Incredible result for Wellington to beat a Premiership team. May only be a friendly but it's probably equivalent to someone like Stevenage or Tranmere beating West Ham. And without any World Cup players it was their first 11, probably only minus Carrol who got injured in training the other day.

Going to the Sydney-West Ham and Wellington-Newcastle double header in Wellington on Saturday. May see some of the players and managers around town today and tomorrow. Anything I should say to Pardew or Allardyce? 😆

United won their pre-season game 7-0 yesterday and now their fans are all getting really excited. Its hilarious, they've turned into Spurs. 😆

Just been and watched West Ham's open training session and ended up getting Collins and Downings autographs at the end. I know it's West Ham but living here it was still a pretty cool once in a lifetime thing to see Premiership players training and up close etc. Amazing experience for West Ham fans here.

Yep, wearing a maroon beanie that looked ridiculous on him and he was on his phone for most of the session. I'll post some photos later on. They did a signing afterwards although only him and a handful of players (Downing, Collins, Jarvis, Demel and 1 or 2 others I didn't know) seemed to stay behind for it. Few people got Downing to sign Liverpool gear which was a bit funny. Another handful of players from all 4 teams just did a signing in the centre of town too.

Heh. There were actually quite a lot of West Ham fans at the training and many more than Newcastle at the other signing. It's quite rare to come across a Geordie (can only think of a couple I've ever met here) in NZ but there's plenty of Londoners.

Martin Ødegaard is tearing up the Norwegian league at the moment, he'll be great someday. Youngest player to ever play in the league, youngest goal scorer (almost a year younger than the next) and scored again today and was involved in all three Strømsgodset goals. I know it's the Norwegian league, but damn.
