Welbeck has an impressive goals to minute ratio playing center forward for England. Great composure for the second goal there. Keeper rushing out, two defenders closing in but he knew he had ample time, didn't rush it.

Sterling tried hard all night but he had a poor game technically.

Wilshere was disappointing too. He was extremely poor defensively, certainly not ready for that role.

The two finishes aside Welbeck has incredible stamina. He interchanged with Rooney towards the end as Rooney didn't have it in him to track back and then the powerful run at the end.

We will now have Ramsey, Welbeck and Sanchez who can do a lot of damage towards the end of games with their running power.

To make things even better, David Alaba did an interview yesterday where he said that Arsenal is his dream club. We'll rob Bayern blind 2-3 years down the line.

I don't think so. He wasn't particularly good either but his performance was at least in line with the rest of the England midfield and attack.

Good win in a tough away qualifier. The kind of game we usually draw 0-0 or lose. Great to see Welbeck get the goals too. I loved that after the first, he ran straight to Chambers and Ox in the corner. First may have been off his shin but the second was a really good finish and the kind of chance Giroud always misses. Can't think of many times in my life I've been able to celebrate an England goal scored by an Arsenal player. Aside from Walcott a couple of times in recent years, it's going back to Campbell at the 2002 World Cup and maybe Keown and Adams around 2000.

If I were to rate him, I'd give him a 5.5, maybe 6.

He didn't impress at all, and was quite rightfully taken off around the 70th minute.

I don't know if it has to do with the formation / role he is being asked to play (England appeared to be using a 4-4-2 diamond; Wilshere played at the base of the Diamond, in the holding midfield role) but he didn't really impact the game in any meaningful way.

This kid used to look special.

Now he looks quite ordinary. It's baffling.

takes a different kind of discipline to play at the base of a diamond. england's never really had a player capable of playing that role properly, but they always try to do it anyway.

I really hope Wilshere has a Ramsey like season soon. Would be a shame to see his develop into anything less than one of the best in the world in his position.

Agree with you but understand the reason as he was totally unfamiliar with that position.
He should have been the outlet job from defence but kept getting by-passed because he never bothers trying to lose his marker as he trusts his ability to receive the ball in traffic. This is not a problem higher up the pitch but CBs, understandably, don't take these risks with no other defensive cover so they choose other options.
He could have dropped deeper or made Henderson make dummy runs in order to free himself but didn't.
