I know, that's why I think Wenger is trying bring in a player that can play both roles. We cannot use up every spot right know. If there is an emergency we can buy someone in January.

We would be fools to use up all the non HG players spot in one go, we have to get rid of some players.
Easily fixed. Just release Diaby and there will be another spot opening up.
Diaby is Wenger love child, he will never do that.

Don't really care whether it's two players or a CM/CB combo, we just desperately need someone there. I think we can cope with the other gaps in the squad but I think we could pay if we neglect those two positions.

take a look at that Chelsea squad. even City. once again, we're far behind these two teams in terms of squad quality. and if the issue is that we are short money, i think we need to clean up midfield to free up cash for other areas of the field

I reckon its about 85%. Still short 2 players.
We have effectively swapped Sagna for Debuchy, Vermaelen for Chambers, Fabianski for Ospina while only adding Alexis, Coquelin, Diaby, Bellerin and Joel to last year's squad.
