Is it actually a problem that Wenger has three more years to do whatever project he wants to do? Will he try to stick with what he has because he will believe they can build on their FA cup success?

This squad would have won the league if it wasn't for a little bit of unlucky injuries to Ozil and Ramsey, why would Wenger go anywhere but the free agent market?

So far we are about 15 down. To get to the 60+ figure some of you put, Wenger now needs to spend 75m+. Is this feasible?

In my opinion the receivables from the Vela and Fabregas sales shouldn't be considered here. We have added money and it's a really nice bonus activated because of clauses included years back but they weren't part of our squad last year.

We need to really look at who from our last year's squad goes and who we buy for the coming season. You can argue the receivables from the Vela and Cesc deal has funded Wenger's new contract 🙂

Indeed, its all Flamini's fault.
If it wasn't for that og against Swansea we'd have certainly run away with it.

How did we get to £15m down without signing anyone? :o

He means we've taken in 15 from Cesc and Vela. So need to spend 75m to reach 60 net.

Ahh right. Well thats a bit of bullshit. Cesc and Velas sell on/bonus/etc values always existed, we've sold no one.

Those 6 people thinking +60mil are at a push.

2 £15m and one £30m+ makes £60m. Any less and we'll be fighting for 4th with a good chance of losing out.

-£15mil for what we have already brought in 😉

Sanchez, Balotelli, Aurier, Ospina. That is the bare minimum of what we need, and I reckon that is about £65m, and then wages on top.

That would now require us to spend nearly 80m, so ... yeah.

I think we'll be from 20-30m nett spend now we've cashed in on Vela.

Aurier, Remy and a back up gk. So net spend at around £10 mill?

Cheap GK, RB, CB, CM, Campbell and Sanchez as our 'big' signing we'll get if we're lucky, Giroud starts up top for us for another season and about £60M spent net as I expect Vermaelen to leave which'll add another £10M or so to the £15M we've got for Cesc and Vela.

GK - £5M
RB - £10M
CB - £15M
CM - £20M
Sanchez - £30M

Disagree with that perspective.

Vela's significant sell-on has only eventuated because the player has come on strongly in La Liga and Cesc appeared likely to stay at Barcelona much longer.

Those are payments we're receiving as the result of transfer activity this summer, as such I think they count—well I count them anyway. If we're making money we should be spending it.

We're making money from new sponsor and commercial deals too.

exactly. there is no way arsenal expected this money from a budgeting perspective. that's new money added to what they budgeted.

I don't care one bit how much we spend as long as we get the right players in. The rest is just fluff.
