Because we had already sold these players ages ago. It's just money that comes back into the club now, same as new sponsorship deals or property development sales. It's not part of any transfer budget.

We sold Vela really cheap because we had a buy-out option. Now we got rid of that buy-out option and got the rest of the fee we would have gotten. This fee was not included when we sold him, and not now (according to you and Klaus), so it's just supposed to not be included in any year's net spending?

I suppose it depends on if you were viewing this thread in terms of finances or in terms of incomings and outgoings in the squad. To me adding the Vela money to this is like adding payments for players that had been staggered over time. Or removing any bonuses we could have owed clubs for winning the FA cup with players we'd bought or qualifying for the CL etc.

Monreal is going to get games at CB this year, as will Flamini at RB and LB.

Have to admit I've been down on him a lot last season but he has looked a bit better so far. I'm still worried he'll completely fuck up though.

Before, he was too weak and slow.

He does look stronger. Always had hopes for him. Individually he's a better footballer than Gibbs. It would be nice if he sorted out the LB position for us.
