One of the most impressive in a World Cup full of outstanding goalkeeping. There wouldn't be too many better number 2 keepers around. Perfect signing.
David Ospina
Much as Flappy isn't going to Swansea to be number 2, this guy isn't coming here to be number 2. In both cases they need to prove they are the better goalkeepers to try and win that starting spot.
"The Colombia goalkeeper has finalised a £3.5m move to Emirates Stadium and will undertake a medical and sign for the club when he returns from holiday next week."
That sentence makes absolutely no sense.
What's confusing? It's final, he just hasn't done a medical or signed yet. Makes perfect sense.
Nothing would be final prior to a medical.

Watching some videos of him today. The bloke is immense
Is Szcz's position at risk or is he an Almunia?
Most importantly Dules, how is his hair?

Excited. Szczesny and Ospina as GK options

With Wenger, who knows....
signing a gk based on a good wc usually doesn't pan out well, but i have some faith that wenger has eyed him up during his time in france. seems like a handy addition
Wenger knows fuck all about goalkeepers.
Wasn't even first choice at Nice.

???
Pretty sure he was first choice, Biggus. He was injured for about 2 months, last season.
Seems like a very capable keeper, most journalists seem to rate him. Some good analysis of him:

Excellent. Got another position sorted, and this guy's just about good enough to threaten Szczesny.

Reason i ask is good goal-keepers are not rotated like outfield positions that's why only one out of Petr Cech and Thibault Courtois will remain at Chelsea.
I think Szcz is the better keeper, (based on complete ignorance about Ospina's level as i don't count the wc!), so if he is to stay here, imo, he will have to be content to just be cover for injury (akn Almunia).
this guy Wenger is in danger of changing our opinions on his market dealings. Ospina, Sanchez and Debuchy in for Sagna out represents a super summer so far. fingers crossed
Sagna and Fabianski.
We have done the least that could have been expected so far. Replaced GK/RB and added in the area where we lacked the most - frontline. Adding a CB is not critical issue, if Verm leaves then we will replace ofcourse. Adding a CM or a LW/ST will depend heavily on who is available and at what price. Tbh, if we add Khedira (or any other, lesser CM) then i will be 90% satisfied. Hoping for a new shiny ST was always a long shot as no great ones are available.
You make players available with substantial bids, which is what Real Madrid did with James Rodriguez. Cavani is at least as available as James was.
Unless you're Real Madrid, you'd have to be a moron to go around bidding on players who aren't available. The Moyes strategy, basically.
Well, Fabregas wasn't 'available' but we ended up selling him just the same. More often than not I reckon that the interest, and subsequently bids, from a bigger club is what makes a player 'available'. You think Newcastle wanted to sell Debuchy, or Nice wants to sell Ospina?
Yes, i think they did want to sell them.
And we're not bigger than PSG. No one is.
We are certainly bigger than PSG, but we are not richer. From Cavani's point of view there is certainly the possibility that other clubs are more attractive to him given that he has to play second fiddle to Zlatan at PSG. His club most likely don't want to sell him, but they may do so anyway - if a suitable offer comes in. Ergo - interest and bids make the player available, at least in this case.
You really, really think they wanted to sell those players?
