I think buying Morata makes a lot of sense. It was always unlikely that Wenger would dump Giroud just after a season. And unless we got someone like Cavani which itself was difficult buying someone like Morata seemed like the decent option.

It means genuine competition for Giroud. Not just in terms of position, but that Morata is more of a false 9/team-play striker than say a Suarez/Sturridge kinds.

Lastly if it means blowing up cash on a player like a Sanchez or a Sharaawy i am all for it.

Wish they'd hurry up and confirm this, I guess the whole buy back issue's the sticking point.
I have very positive feelings about the efrects of adding Morata to our squad.

I think the fact that this isn't happening at all is slowing down the official announcement.

No doubt this would be very underwhelming but there aren't a lot of top strikers around and maybe Wenger feels its better to spend on a good young player who could potentially be great rather than spending a lot on someone like Balotelli /Benzema and it not working out. I'd be ok with this so long as the rest of the side sees proper investment. and at least one elite midfielder is added to the squad.

I'd rather go for Benzema because not only is he far better at the moment, he's also more talented than Morata IMO.

Jese vs Benzema would have been a much more difficult choice, but I would have still gone for Benzema. With the money we have we really shouldn't be relying on a project to lead the line for us at this point.
