Nasri and Van Persie were nowhere near as disconnected to what's considered "normal" as Balotelli is.
They're complete assholes, both of them, but they know how to be conventional.
Balotelli's a different type of character, probably a nicer guy but far more difficult to manage I reckon.

They know now, but they didn't know before. When Feyenoord sold Van Persie he was considered to be unmanageable, their fans were happy he was gone. He had a number of incidents in his first two seasons here as well, like the rape thing and that stupid sending off at Sunderland.

Sort of a massive difference between "the rape thing" and the sending off at Sunderland....
Like I've said about a 100 times already by all means sign Balotelli, but do so with the knowledge that he will be a difficult character to manage into being consistently great.

Plus you can always look at a player's goals scored stat in the context of the team for whom they play if you want a better feeling as to whether a striker's worth raving about or not.

Or how many points their goals are worth. I've always preferred this way of looking at end product. What you want is someone who can help you control games by putting you in the driver's seat. An early advantage is priceless. This is what made Thierry Henry the greatest Premiership player of all time.

I'll say this about Balotelli: most, if not all of his goals this season, have been vital. Milan were so poor it's unreal. In most of the cases where Balotelli scored from the penalty spot he himself had earned the penalty too. Serie A defences are generally much better organised than Premier League defences, and they've targeted him all season because they know how little it takes for him to kill them.

I definitely haven't fantasised about us signing Remy, I was actually thinking of adding him to the anti-wish list.

van Persie tried to fight van Marwijk by all accounts and ended up riding it out in the reserves for half a season.

I know nothing of nasri causing trouble.

However, both players worked incredibly hard in training. Reports on Balotelli indicate he doesn't give a shit about training hard every day. That is what will put Wenger right off signing him more than nay behavioural issue or being a nutter.

Nasri is a full on weirdo. Can't say much else because it's anecdotal, but he is genuinely an unsavoury character. I wouldn't want him as a team mate.

But anyway; most things relating to Balotelli are made up and the rest is pretty much normal for a young man. I don't see the problem, but different strokes for different folks.

Agree with Capi. The media needs a "bad boy" and Balotelli is it.

He has a certain arrogance, but that's only cos he fully believes in his own abilities, and always has. And he can actually back his attitude with his ability. Nothing wrong with that. Not everyone can have a bland, humble personality like say a Giggs or Ramsey

If Wenger could sign and manage the likes of Bendtner and young RVP, then Balo isn't a problem.

Wenger went hard after Bitey McRacist last summer, so I doubt there is anything about Balotelli that scares him.

Balotelli is a great player, would love to have him here. Not nearly as psychotic as made out by the media, and frankly, believed by fans for whatever reason. He needs the right environment like anyone does and his own racist supporters and the Italian media are definitely not it, maybe Arsenal is.

Suarez always gives 100%. I (and I'd guess most others in the thread) would have no fears about signing Balotelli if the same were true about him.

Suarez scored 30 last season also. Balotelli has averaged about a goal a month from open play at Milan.

Gunner, have you watched Milan since they let go of Pirlo? They have one of the most ineffective midfields at a top club in Europe. And El Shaarawy has been injured or inconsistent as well, so Balo has little to work with
