One thing I'll say about Theo, he may be predictable but his speed makes him very rarely neutralised in the big games.

I think its a fair point you're making though. Its one of the reasons I think we are all so high on Ox. He's a player capable of doing something no one seen coming.

I'm just not totally convinced that Balotelli has the burning desire to score goals, the killer instinct that all great goalscorers have. Played 80 minutes versus Luxembourg today and didn't get a goal.

We have enough footballing talent in the squad. Ox, Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, even Rosicky are capable of pieces of sublime skill. I'd rather have a striker who lives to put the ball in the net

The general point is still valid though, his lack of drive to be great is a bigger problem than his antics. He's too laid back, too casual. People like that very rarely change either. However, his talent can compensate for that to an extent, and as nice as it would be to have a 30+ league goal a season striker, a 20 goal a season striker would be good enough too.

Mario might not have scored, but he did have this moment of class to set up Marchisio for Italy's goal (could picture Ramsey on the end of one of those next season!) :

Controls it simply, looks up and perfect cross. That's a nice setup

Indeed. It's the type of cross Giroud fucks up 9 times out of 10, and the then one time he does get it in, people act like he should be given a medal.

Top footballers set shit up like that all day eyy day.

Balotelli doesn't do it every time either though. Most times this season he's been worse than Giroud.

I actually think Giroud is pretty good at putting crosses in. He's generally excellent when he drifts wide and picks up the ball. Much better than when he's trying to meet or control it inside the box.

Giroud is odd. He's good at a lot of things but outstanding at none. His lack of pace is a real barrier for him.
