Agree with Claudius about the Van Gaal worry. He's good for Utd, and I'm quite sure they'll be back up there.
Also agree about xabi's level - I thought he was done a long time ago (though he's still capable of a brilliant game here and there).

Thought they were warming Santi at some point (when it was 3:1?)

Biggest difference yesterday was a mental one (not downplaying the tactical thing too much): that goal before half time saved the WC for the dutch. They came out like cold blooded killers, while the Spanish brats were still comfy in their entitlement delusion, falling further down with every blow. Iker was as bad as I've ever seen him, and he was deteriorating by the moment. Ramos too (and I normally rate him).

Fingers crossed Santiago gets an early unexpected rest. That'll be a major boost for us.

Xavi is clearly not the player he once was. Xabi was pretty shit as well; looks slow and weak. Think Spain should bench both of them. Koke is a much better player than both of them, but this is a good example of reputation/name being more important than actual skill.

People forget a game is 90+ minutes, just because someone starts strongly there no guarantee they'll finish strongly or even finish the game.

I think its a bit early to start worrying about how Van Gaal will set up Utd, hes a PL newbie and Mourinho Pellegrini and even Wenger will have the jump on him.

Even Iniesta looks tired and uninspiring.

Costa isn't suited for their shit style either. He'll spend 90 mins watching as they pass it around the back until they eventually give it away. Will be immensely frustrating for him. Deserves it though, should be playing for Brazil.

He knows football. And they do have players far better than what their performance this year showed. And he'll get some more in. Utd will be back in it, I'd be very surprised if not (wasn't at all surprised with what happened to them this year, BTW). Doesn't mean they'll win it, obviously, but it's a reason for concern.

BTW, I meant the xavi of Barca is done (not sure if he's xavi or xabi. The xubby guy, not the taller Madrid player :-) ).

I'd imagine players around the world would have watched that yesterday and thought to themselves they'd like to play for him, too. With van Persie firing as well, yesterday was a pretty good day for United. Annoyingly.

At least he doesn't have a Robben at United or anything close to it. And he won't be able to sign someone like him either. He's terrifying when he's on fire like that.

Of course Utd will be back in it, we knew that once they got rid of Moyes.
We are in a real fight for the Prize but twas always every so.....
I have every confidence in Le Boss to do whatever it takes to get us 4th place, he's never failed us before....

Spain are the most boring team in the world. Genuinely hope they don't make it out of the group. Can't stand their style. I didn't even enjoy watching tiki taka when they were at their best.

Selections have to be questioned IMO. There is simply no logical reason for Xavi to be selected at this point. He's been poor for a long time now. They have guys like Cesc, Koke, Cazorla and Mata at their disposal - make us of them FFS.

It's also a joke that Torres made the squad, let alone took to the field last night. He's being picked based on his 2008 form. The guy has been horrendous since 2010.

Unreal. I wasn't even surprised aswell. This is why i was so infactuated by RvP since he first joined Arsenal, he was different to any player i had ever seen. His style and the goals he scores are very unique. I'm seriously intrigued to see what he will pull off next in his career.

Zlatan to me exemplifies how international football, if it absolutely has to exist, should be; he was born in Sweden, grew up there, and is clearly Swedish, and that's why he should play for Sweden. Marcos Senna and Costa playing for Spain is just silly; you are not Spanish just because you have lived there 5 years. Wilshere was 100 percent right in what he said IMO.
