Getting a smaller forward wouldn't cause as many problems if we had a player with Martinez height too. Can't really afford any more short arses in the team.

Very good point

Love seeing this type of excitement about a signing - really speaks to what we need when everyone unites in their desire.

Honestly, I don't think Wenger sees a central midfielder this summer as a top priority. I only think he will go for one if a top player becomes available at a good price.

Yeah, think the main signings will be a striker and a right back. Plus either a starting CM or a LW depending on who's available.

He'll be looking to replace Arteta.

Martinez would be a superb signing for us. Massive upgrade on Flamini and Arteta and able to cover at centreback. Would be about my number one choice of those that might available.

In theory he'd be perfect but based on what we saw when we played Bayern I'm not too keen. Big guy who falls over every chance he gets. Was pathetic to watch.

He put in a master class in positioning and ball circulation in the 1st leg. He didn't get any hype but he was one of their stand out performers IMO.

I'd love this happen.

He didn't have much to do in the 1st leg in fairness except for passing the ball around a bit. In the 2nd leg all I remember was his diving antics. Not saying he's not a good player but purely on the basis of those two games I have my doubts about him.

Ideal signing. It's a shame we had no chance of getting Matic in. But, if we can't get Martinez, I would go for someone like Khedira.

Martinez or schneiderlin and it's job done. We don't even have to think twice about that position.

Wenger's definitely looking to replace Arteta, he said something along the lines of his age being difficult to work with. Also with Wenger being interested in Schneiderlin before he joined Southampton, I can definitely see Wenger being interested again and Schneiderlin has already said he wants to join. Given the choice though I would go for Martinez.

Martinez would be perfect. Reckon this rumour is extremely far fetched though.

Is Martinez a robust type? Could we count on him to be fit for 95% of our PL games?
I know you cannot prevision for sudden injuries but given the injury history of our current midfielders I think it's really important that we get someone without any lingering or longstanding fitness issues.
It's why I'd be a bit wary of signing Khedira now.

Bild are reporting that Martinez has said the situation is "Not as I'd imagined it" under Pep and is considering leaving. They say we along with Man City are interested, if there is any chance even for £30m we have to go for him. This just makes far too much sense!

reckon city and united would be interested. they both lack quality in the middle of the park.

schneiderlin would give us the flexibility to further improve the team, mainly striker. you drop 30m on javi (yes i agree he is the superior player) and how much more can you improve the team especially when you factor in another 10m for right back?

i feel we need new fullbacks (right and left), defensive mid and most importantly an elite striker.

Schneiderlin won't come that much cheaper, rumour has it they rejected a £15m bid so will probably be looking for around £20m if they were to let him go. If Shaw or Lallana go then they might be reluctant to sell

United would struggle to sign anyone that City and Arsenal were seriously after.
