If that's the limit of improvement we are looking for then we really won't be winning anything. What will improve us is Giroud coming on at 75 minutes with that much of the match played by a much better center forward.

I don't have a problem with Remy, infact I used to think he would be a great buy when he was at Marseille. He won't really improve us much though other than adding squad depth. We need a striker for the first team.

Remy will not improve us. Pointless signing.

😆 Wouldnt improve us 😆

Fuck me, the transfer window really does bring the best out of people.

How is bringing Sanogo on after 75 minutes better than bringing Remy on.

well most of us want to see us improved to actually win something like the league or champions league. the fact that giroud is still starting in your scenario means we won't be improving to that level. i don't want a simple improvement where we lose to chelsea at the bridge 2-1 instead of getting violated. i want us to actually go there and win (or at worse draw)... same for the other big away matches that we got bent over.

Alexis and Remy, I would be happy.

I'm guessing it's the Alexis half that make Remy acceptable.
They don't come as a pair so signing Remy would be blaaaaa for me.

watching guys like Cuadrado, Alexis and James tear shirt up at the World Cup would leave us all with a blaaa feeling if Remy was our primary frontline signing

Exactly.

And signing Remy now would annoy me even more because if he's the striker Wenger wants then he should have signed him in January.

I think if we do take Remy it's because Wenger sees it as a safe option. Low fee, used to the league and should do ok. There aren't that many options out there. I mean Mandzukic might cost what, 20m? He's similar in style to Giroud and he might not perform a whole lot better than Remy. Can't wait for a Benzema type. Balotelli is a risk. If we get an Alexis type then I think Remy makes sense tbh.

Remy, Alexis and Debuchy. Much better than I would have ever though. Add in any of Schneiderlin, Bender or Khedira and I would say its a perfect summer.

Any decent backup goalie and CB will do.

Remy and Debuchy are at best decent players.

Add two decent players to Sanchez and, hopefully, Khedira, and you're having a really, really good summer. Can't be denied.

The summer will be a failure unless we sign a top striker.

if we get remy, that means giroud starts. prob means podolski's gone as well, as it seems like a player too many in the front three.

don't really want him if it means poldi leaving.

klaus, if we land alexis, khedira/schneiderlin, and debuchy, there won't be an elite striker coming in. best make peace with moar zheerou next season

I've made peace with it since January. It is what it is.

And it will still have been an excellent summer. Top striker...we need one, yes, but Alexis and a CM takes our attack up few notches which is exactly what we need. Who knows, with those guys around him maybe Giroud would start to look like a top striker.

Yea I think Remy is a bit underrated on here.

No doubt in my mind that Wenger would be very interested in a Cavani, Benzema, Suarez etc if these blokes were available and/or attainable for us.

It's like when Chelsea bought Ba. Now we have two average strikers to choose from; better than nothing I guess. Not greatly enthused by our CF options though.

Maybe next summer...

If we get Sanchez and Debuchy sorted this week and a quality CM too then I think Wengers better off seeing who's available as the summer progresses than signing Remy now.

If we're looking at a pl striker, I would rather sign Bony.

Remy sucks, we won't sign him. He has few of the qualities you want in a CL-level #9. Hoping Wenger signs someone like Morata with real potential if we can't get anyone else. No point in bothering with mediocre players anymore.

morata is most likely going to juve

Unless we're selling Podolski, there's no need for Remy. He'd be at best an option off the bench.

Daily Mail reporting that this move is being held up by his wages demands. Now I like him as a player but he can get stuffed if he's being unreasonable

Why are we even going for him? Bang average player.

Remy and Debuchy. Next up Shola Ameobi.

I'd prefer a Debuchyesque RB than a Remyish striker.

Think he gets a raw deal here. Registers frequently, has serious pace and can play a bit

he's wiltord level, and I think I'm being slightly generous there

Gazza M wrote:

Shiieeeeeet - Wiltord accomplished plenty 🙂

He could have been Wiltord level if he'd applied himself better.

Possibly, I get the impression that he's a bit of a waster.

Worst case scenario he flops and we sell him to Newcastle or someone next summer for a similar fee. Best case is he proves a better fit than Giroud and we have two decent strikers.

Our record in getting rid of rubbish strikers is verrry poor.

Gazza M wrote:

Are you saying he doesn't understand the offside rule?

He's got pace, he can finish, I quite like him. 14 goals in 26 games for that Newcastle team is pretty good, I think. If we're getting Sanchez, I think he makes some kind of sense as alternative- not every signing has to be top of the range quality. Besides which, perhaps he has something in him just waiting for le prof to get out of him.

Also, he is an Arsenal fan, apparently, so I imagine he would be extra motivated to do well for us.

Remy wouldn't improve us in the sense that we'd win trophies with him that we wouldn't win without him or place any higher in the league. As such, this is a pointless signing and a waste of money. Giroud, Sanchez and Walcott are better options up front. Maybe even Podolski. Out wide we have 5-6 better options.

Now that we finally have money and are showing some ambition, filling up the squad with more average players makes no sense. We don't need quantity, we need quality.

I think he fit us better than Giroud so totally disagree that.
