Main thing is that Griezmann WANTS to make runs behind the back 4, and he puts balls in the onion bag with some regularity. He has good close control and trickery btw.

That rumour sounds like bullshit.

Having said that, Griezmann would suit us better than Vela. The team is screaming out for runners.

Vela is better than Griezman, why would you end up spending 5-6 times as much on player who hasn't done as well?

I think Sociedad would rather keep Vela, were it up to them. I think a deal like that could be done.

I'd prefer Griezmann, but wouldn't mind Vela.

If we really plan on investing proper money in a striker, then Vela is the better option since he's cheaper.

Not just about the money, we need to buy players which will benefit and suit our system. Also need pace and goals.

I think a midfielder and a striker is more important, so it makes sense for us to use the opportunity to get a guy who can play both winger and forward, almost for free. Spending 18m on a position where we have Cazorla, Podolski and Chamberlain? Nope.

We only have Walcott who offers pace, a willingness to get in behind the back 4, and goals. The other wide options we have are different from that in their playing style.

Griezmann is certainly more of a 'get the ball into space' kind of guy than Vela out wide, and I therefore think he better suits our needs.

Would definitely prefer Griezmann, Vela might be a better all round player but we could really benefit with 'another' Walcott.

seems to me one of the main reasons we got raped In the big games is that we are pressed hard by the opposition and crumble, having an outlet like Walcott/Griezmann will make teams think twice about being that aggressive or we will be able to punish them more easily if they do.

Just read what Arteta said about Vela. Convinced we want to bring him back now.

"Having seen his season at Real Sociedad, I would be very happy to have him back as he is a great player."

Don't know about the rest of you, but that quote makes me convinced that we want to buy Real Sociedad.

Petter Veland, norwegian football commentator based in spain, wrote today that we're not really that interested in Vela and we will not use him in some deal involving Griezman either. Apparently we will trigger the release clause and then try to sell him back to Sociedad (or Juve, Valencia, Dortmund etc...). All of this is based on talking to journalists Oier Fano og Kike Marín.

Wenger would never do that. He ain't Mourinho.

Have we ever had a similar situation? Sociedad are interested in Vela and the San Sebastian journalists are convinced we will trigger the release clause. The question is whether we'll sign him and keep him or just ship him back to Sociedad (or Juve, Valencia etc) for €14-16 mill.

That thoery makes absolutely no sense. Why would Vela even agree to take part in such a move? He wouldn't.
