The 'deflection' is the moment the ball is being played here. I'm fairly certain of this.
I'll try to look it up after the game.

He's offside when Giroud hits it, Klaus. Clear from the wide angle.
I'm 95% certain that it's only a different situation in the case of a deliberate backpass from a defender.
Klaus, that's wrong.
If your rulebook is valid, every single rebound would be onside because we only count from the time the keeper saved it.
Offside is definitely taken from the moment the ball is played.
Ramsey! 😃 :dulaoohtobe:

We constantly play in a fashion where our players' weaknesses are exposed when the opponents put some pressure on us, though. That signals a broader flaw in our setup to me. It's not like we've looked better with other players in that position.

Totally agreed. It's the system rather than the individual players that's mainly to blame.
Cazorla is so shit at those situations...
Ohh Santi. His volleying is really poor considering his otherwise stellar shooting technique. He's skied a number of those sort of chances.
Crikey Cazorla's taken some wild shots in front of goal tonight. Other than that he's been a right pest for that Newcastle defence to deal with.

He can never keep those chances down. Always leaning back and skying it over.
He missed many many tap ins in just this 2 seasons already.

The wording in the rulebook says "gaining an advantage from being in an offside position", which is why you can't score from a rebound if you've previously been offside. But that's not the case here. There are two players between Özil and the goal when the rebound comes.
Fair to say that Newcastle will only be interested in this game if we gift them a goal.
This the perfect game for someone like Wilshere.
Remy does worse 1 on 1 than Giroud.
Good save Szcz.
People think off Remy as a pace merchant but that was an excellent touch to set up Gouffran

You mean Gouffran
Ramsey with some WC stuff.
Great counter.
Ramsey is a different class. We need two of him. Everybody else on our team looks JV next to this boy
