Would be a great signing for Utd to be fair and will show that they still have massive weight in football.

Let's not kid ourselves Di Maria is a proper player. Will be their biggest signing in absolute years if they manage to pull it off.

Such a weird signing for them. They have three players already who can't get a game centrally and a £37 million January signing who does play there regularly. If the idea is to play with width, where will van Gaal put Rooney? On the left flank?

I have to agree to an extent here. He's a very good winger but his numbers aren't that great. He averages about 5 league goals a season. Only last season were his assists really high (17) and consider this was when he had Bale, Cron and Benzema all playing further up. Sanchez was about 31 million.

Sanchez has scored 39 goals plus 24 assists in 3 la liga seasons averages to 13 plus 8
Di Maria has 22 goals plus 49 assists in 4 la liga seasons averages to 5.5 plus 12.25

These are just league statistics so take them as you want to

Does not matter what it costs , they can easily absorb that fee in light of their massive sponsorship deals.

As I've said plenty of times, Di Maria didn't become seriously world class before this season, when he was played as a CM. As a winger he has always been hit or miss. He doesn't need plenty of goals or assists there to be excellent. Take a look at Xavi or Iniesta's stats from their primes. And anyway, he had 17 assists last season. When the whole reason for the huge price is that he has found an entirely new level this past year, it doesn't make sense to show stats from the last four seasons to conclude that he's overpriced.

I seriously doubt Di Maria was bought as a CM and if he was wtf is going on at United. Transfer policy makes no sense.

85m euros is insane. Absolutely insane. You are talking about Ronaldo range there and he is nowhere near that class.

Ignoring the fee, he is a great acqusition and would be great for them wherever he play.

Definitely agree Klaus. Sums up their transfer dealings. Buying players with no clue on how they fit into the way they (or plan to) play. If they had signed Vidal instead, I would have been more angry.

Reading around Madrid fans have no problem with selling Di Maria. Only this past season has he delivered apparently and he's too inconsistent.

He's a lot like Ozil and Oscar in that he can disappear in games but when he's on song he's unplayable. He's a great player, just the wrong acquisition for such a top-heavy team

Read that he might be on higher wages than Rooney too. That's madness and I can't see that going down well with Shrek and Van Judas.
