True but Lukaku is 21. If Wenger got him now he could be absolutely top class in a year or two. He probably will be anyway. He has all the tools and natural gifts you need.

Remy would have done well here I think. Quietly but effectively. It's still not good enough that we only have Giroud as our solitary viable option up front. Remy is no Cavani but he's miles better than Sanogo and thus would have been a great improvement to the squad.

Campbell's played right wing for the last 3 years. The comparison is a bit daft.

The way this is supposed to work is that you sign a better striker in order to relegate the one who isn't good enough to the bench. Having two strikers who aren't quite 'there' will always cause problems, regardless of whether the second one is Remy or Sanogo.

Ideally yes but the thing is we are not signing another top player for the striker department after the Sanchez deal.

I can only see Sanchez being used up-front as being the case for not signing Remy because in a market where a world class striker is seemingly unavailable it's a big step down from Giroud (who himself isn't a prolific striker) to Sanogo. Remy solves a big problem especially in the big games just due to his pace not to mention being more clinical. The amount of times that many strikers would be through just because of not being as slow even in games like below is quite staggering.

We already have Campbell who is decent which makes it daft to buy a player like Remy who is another decent player. At all costs we need to avoid adding any more mediocre players.

El Mundo has James to Madrid for €80m. Noise picking up around that transfer and it's quintessentially Perez so it's likely just be a matter of time. Would set off a whole chain of madness.
