I'd be very surprised if this actually happened.
Doesn't strike me as a Mourinho-type player.

He signed a new contract a few months ago. Doesn't make it certain that he won't but makes it quite unlikely.

Wenger should be leaping into action on the Monday after the FA cup.
David Luiz being strongly linked to Barca, some saying a deal has been done, fee of around £25m being mentioned for him. That alone will pay for their striker so Chelsea recovering a lot of money for their players while investing. I reckon Luiz will do a lot better in Spain than here, thought Barca might go in for Bilbao's Laporte and then bed him in but maybe not. Possibly looking for someone more proven.
Though they were clever in that before FFP came in they went in and overloaded their squad with talent which they can slowly dispense of now!
Chelsea also being linked to Firminho as well, rumour has it they've made a £15m bid.
£25m isn't enough to land Chelsea a striker.
It's 78% of the amount for the second-best #9 this season after Ibra. Chelsea are handling transfer business very well IMO.

Well £7m short of Costa, similar wages as well I'd guess

Already started judging by recent posts in this thread.
i hate this thread. just a constant reminder of what a fuck up we are in the transfer market.
I'll be properly disgusted if Firmino ends up at Chelsea.
Gotta at people/person losing their shit because we haven't signed anyone yet.
Our season hasn't even finished ffs .
Rumours in Germany that Liverpool might be close to signing Leverkusen's Emre Can, for around 12m Euros. Supposedly Bayern have a buy back option as well and it is less than 12m Euros, some think they might be willing to sell in case Bayern exercise that option. Quite highly rated but still quite young and inexperienced.
Yeah he is quite a good footballer, but played out of position by Leverkusen this season everywhere. Right back, Centre Back, Right Mid Left Mid when he is a centre midfielder.
Anyway they are also reportedly interested in Hakan Calhanoglu. That guy has been a real revelation this season.
pool sniffing around sanchez too. him suarez together would be a fecking handful
we better not let Pool anywhere near Sanchez. if he's the only attacking signing we make, i'd be happy with that. he can come in from the right and give us a second scoring force next to Giroud. would make such a massive difference. i might even prioritize him over a traditional no. 9 and then bring in another no. 9 as a bonus
I don't see what chance they have of getting Sanchez, or any other top player. There will always be a bigger better club in for the player and those clubs will have a lot more money to offer in wages. Not worried about them at all.
Rodgers is collecting a lot of talented players. Silly to dismiss them
Rodgers signed mostly shite last summer.
Maybe so but he's collecting a good group of attackers
facts are, in the last few years he added Suarez, Sturridge, and Sterling while we got Podolski, Giroud, Sanogo, and Park. Fenway has done a much better job of bringing in attackers than we have, so i wouldn't be surprised if they continued to outdo us

Thats not a fact at all.

Suarez was signed by King Kilkenny.
Anyway, the comparison is just silly. We also added Cazorla, Koscielny, Özil, Arteta, Mertesacker and Chamberlain during that same period. Rodgers went and handpicked Allen and Aspas.
Fucking hell, he spent actual money on Iago Aspas.
Rodgers has signed Sturridge, Mignolet and Coutinho. Other than that, he has signed some poor to average players (Allen, Sakho, Aspas, Alberto..)
Klaus wrote:Fucking hell, he spent actual money on Iago Aspas.
I think it was in the 90th minute or something, with Liverpool desperately needing a goal that he went ahead and did this
Klaus wrote:Fucking hell, he spent actual money on Iago Aspas.
I didn't realise he had actually bought these guys, thought most of them were loan signings!
On closer inspection their recent transfer record isn't as good as I've said in the past. Sakho cost them £18m & Allen £15m, neither have lived up to those price tags but they might still improve.
They were decent signings for a midtable team to be fair (apart from Aspas), which is what Liverpool effectively are these days. Hardly outstanding ones though. We'll find out next year if they can repeat this season with the extra burden of an additional 15 games weighing them down.
True but they did finish above us
Yeah, they did, but they can have that small victory. I'd rather have 4th and the FA up than 2nd and nothing. We'll be up there again next year. The feeling is that Liverpool are as good as it gets right now. Once they lose Suarez it will all be downhill.
Liverpool feel like that year they finished 2nd to United. I think they'll fight with United for 4th next season while we battle City and maybe Chelsea for the top spot.

Up there again? Unless something changes, we'll finish fourth again. Couldn't care less about Liverpool and their business.
True
But they shouldn't be dismissed. All it takes is for them to get some like Sanchez and that's them upped a level
Gerrard had one of his best season with 13 goals, don't think he will be repeating that, and don't think Liverpool will be in the top 3 unless they buy a real top quality central midfielder.
Klaus wrote:Once they lose Suarez it will all be downhill.
That's what everyone's been saying - but what if they don't lose him, which looks like quite a probable possibility?
Rayman wrote:Gerrard had one of his best season with 13 goals, don't think he will be repeating that, and don't think Liverpool will be in the top 3 unless they buy a real top quality central midfielder.
And most of them were penalties. His seasons been overrated and I think that midfields going to be seriously found out next season.
Their front three is what dragged them up there in the final third of the season. Winning 11 on the trot was something that none of the other Top 4 managed and the other three were in poor form during that period as well. I think their midfield defensively is a shambles, they look great in attack but defensively the midfield offer the back line very little protection
I think other teams will be a lot more cautious against them, they played a ridiculously high risk strategy which worked but as soon as another team put them under pressure they look poor. They struggled against teams who sat deeper and I think more teams will play like that. Like Klaus says with the extra 15 games their squad won't be so well rested and fresh either which definitely helped them keep up their good form. Also whether they can keep Suarez, if R.Madrid are serious he will see that as his last chance for a move and probably push hard for that. A lot harder than he did to join us and

I think one of those goals were in open play, nearly all of the rest were penalties.

Yeah, the idea is that we'll make a couple of heavy signings this summer. City can't because of the FFP, Chelsea can't because of the FFP, Liverpool can't because of the FFP. Arsenal and United on the other hand have a significant amount of money to spend. There's an advantage to be had here.
Teams will park the bus against Liverpool next year and they won't be able to deal with it. They'll have way more games, way more injuries, and generally less energy to play their high-tempo style.
If they add someone like Sanchez then yes that's a gamechanger, but I don't see that happening. If United actually bother playing next year for van Gaal they should get 4th.
City are releasing about 5 Englishmen who don't play. That will free up money for 2-3 stars. One would be Sagna. Then they can go after 1-2 other players within their 49 milloin pounds allowance. I think people are overstating what City can do. They won't be signing Cavani, but they have a great team and have the leeway to finish the summer with even something like Sagna + Hummels + Martinez
