Considering we have Sanogo, I'd say we missed a trick there. Getting Lukaku this summer, then flogging Giroud for a class striker next summer would have been pretty sweet. π

Not really. They have a high salary burden and have spent a lot in 2014 already, even with the Luis cash. Lukaku probably offered better value now than Torres. They've replaced Ba and Eto'o with Costa. So still an upgrade.
Chelsea fans that I know are actually happy to be rid of Lukaku.
They think that he was getting carried away with his hype and was in no position to demand a regular spot in the team.
