If Wenger stays I'd be wary of having a decent 3rd choice stiker, chances are we'd see him on the wing regularly so really we'd need someone flexible.

Apparently Drmic was playing on the wing up until a year ago. I'm not sure how good he really is out there but he seems flexible. Could probably throw him on when we're chasing a lead without having to take the other striker off or alter the shape too much, which is always a plus.

Well if he's actually good out there then it looks like it'd be a great move. I'd certainly rather a 21 year old with room for growth to come in at that level than someone older who clearly wont get better.

I want Wenger to sign a ridiculous overcorrection. If this guy isn't quicker than Walcott or uglier than Ribery I'm not interested.

Any scouts in here who has watched him regularly?

Yep. It is looking increasingly likely that there are no top class strikers available next season once again so going for someone so promising as an option Giroud and spending big in other areas might be good.

Well we'd definitely need a really top class left winger if we don't sign a top striker. Frankly I think just signing a top striker would be easier than a top LW and a decent striker.

The only wide player that could compensate for a striker is Ronaldo. A striker is an absolute must, and if wenger can't deliver one who can guarantee 20+ league goals a season, he shouldn't bother signing the contract.

Same in the Remy thread mate, when we get linked to a non superstar player people just assume that we are only going for him.

Do you assume we are going for more than one striker?

That's crazy. We won't win anything with Giroud up front.

If there are no world class strikers available, we need to sign the next best thing. Mandzukic, Balotelli or Benteke. There is absolutely no way Giroud should be starting up front next year.

According to whoscored, this Drmic chap has 13 apps as a striker and 8 apps on the right wing this season. Could be versatile enough to get gametime even as a backup player.

Would be incredibly underwhelming though.

He looks like he would be a good signing. But we should sorting out the first team first.

What I meant was Drmic starting up front.

Even if Giroud starts and we can complement him by spending big on a direct winger it will work too

If we sign Costa or not will depend on whether we can convince the player that we are the right club for him, just like Wenger convinced Özil.

I am sure there will be a couple of clubs ready to meet Atletico Madrid's asking price, and then it is up to the player. Same agent as Moron or the fact Atletico will want to keep Curtois has no bearing on this at all.

As for a winger, which we certainly need, Griezmann is the player to get. He too is just 21, but he is the player I'd want.

No it really doesn't because Giroud is slow bloody slow it kills of so many moves having such an immovable object at the top. He is completely anonymous in big games and it puts the pressure on others to score week in week out in the league to compensate for his poor figures.

You can only compensate so much for a lesser player like Eeyore. it is like we are playing with 10 and a half men too often.

I know he's been productive but he seems a bit one dimensional to me. Similar to podolski

He's one-dimensional but more effective in our setup. He plays off the last man. A Walcott-type for the left side with less speed, better dribbling, and more scrappy/poacher's goals. Podolski just seems completely lost to me when he plays for us. He does well when he gets the ball in dangerous positions but he's always in the interior next to the CMs and rarely moves well off the ball. Not expecting a LW purchase though tbh.

😆

i sometimes imagine what we could've done if we'd signed mary shelley's franck ribery back in 2006 or whenever it was.
