Santi's by no means the biggest or most pressing of our problems.
There is a tendancy around here to say that he's in decline when we lose though.

Why would we sign a DM? We all know Wenger will stick with his options and just do the bare minimum.

Gustavo would have been a good squad signing but he wouldn't start over Arteta. That's why he didn't come IIRC.

Someone lilke Matic or Fernandinho is exactly what we need. They are a bit different, but both can defend and pass the ball properly.

Pretty much. Don't really know what's out there but 30m will get you one.. We have money, spend it. But like I said I don't have any faith in wenger to complete a squad

we absolutely need a powerful, technical, smart DM who will sit in front of the front four. this is so obvious, i find it laughable that anyone would disagree. people advocating for ramsey-wilshere just don't get it. you can't defend if you're attacking, and those two love to attack (and in the case of ramsey, should be attacking).

more than that, if wenger won't leave, we desperately need an experienced #2 who will change the way we prepare for matches. we've tried all sorts of player combinations and the same shit keeps happening. the one constant has been wenger.

Nobody said anything about lack of funds.
And up until today the thought of Flameta horrified most people, mainly because they don't work as a pairing.
As for Kim Kallstrom well, maybe he'd have been worth a punt.
I'm not excusing Wenger for today but it's bs to think that being without Rsmsey, Özil, Wilshere and Theo does not force him into having to juggle too much in terms of our midfield.
That he got it wrong is an clearly an argument worth making, that Flameta would have been enough to alter the outcome (ie the loss) given how everyone else played is nonsense.

Flamini-Arteta worked great the last time they played, largely because Wenger switched their responsibilities around. Not having Chamberlain in CM would have been a huge difference, the first and third goals wouldn't have happened.

We would have had 11 men too. Then if Wenger positioned the fullbacks like we had a difficult game on our hands, it would have been 0-0 after 15 minutes and we're in with a chance.

As for Flameta they never horrified me, there was a couple of games where the whole team was poor and one or both were probably carrying injuries but there really was no alternative, and not to play them both against a team managed by Mourinho was at best clownishly naive and at worst criminally negligent.
I only mentioned Klaustrom to underline Wengers utter failure in the January transfer window.
You might remember I was restrained until then, as there was a possibility that after Ozil he had changed direction and finally realised that the football wasn't using 2004 prices anymore, well there sitting on the bench was the direction.
Myself and many others knew the game was up then and I've been fuming ever since

The failure wasn't in January though Biggus, and this season was always a long shot that depended on how much Özil could influence things, how we'd survive having Giroud as our only viable striking option coupled with how we'd cope with stacks of injuries and big defeats.
Quite honestly defeats haven't sent us plummeting to the depths but the stacking up of our injuries has, as I said before, amplified our weaknesses.
Özil's dip in form and subsequent injury hurt too.
Even at that though we can overcome our weaknesses against most teams, bar away from home against the top three.

Hardly. If we started with Flamteta we'd have played deeper and been more cautious in general.

And the thoughts of starting them today didn't terrify most people. Check the match thread I'm pretty sure most people wanted them as their preferred CM partnership given our injury problems. Its not rocket science anyway, they are the only 2 centre mids we have fit.
