Totally agree. Not only is he an excellent striker, but he is ideal for the way we play and the league we play in.

This would be the most underwhelming move we could make. A very capable striker who could compete with Giroud to ensure we don't have those 4-6 week dry spells we experienced with Giroud this season. But he wouldn't give us true fear factor.

I'd like to see a striker who creates buzz amongst the fans and makes opponents feel a bit poopy before a game

The most exciting thing is having a striker who is going to put his chances away when offered them and win you games. I'd rather get excited about that then getting all "poopy" over an unknown quantity.

Balo and Mandzukic are needed, but Mandzukic is a sure thing.

I wonder whether Wenger's not interested in Mandzu because he's too similar to Giroud and might be looking for a player with different qualities than Giroud.

Shearer was fantastic

Loved seeing him bully defenders. Fantastic finish on him too

He scored some outrageous goals too. The reason neutrals didn't get excited by him was because he was a dirty fucker.

He won't be a big upgrade on Giroud. He's a lot like Giroud and better at a few aspects. We really need a difference maker in the front line. If Walcott is our first choice as wide forward and Cazorla/ Podolski are our options for the other wing we will need a far better player. I really don't know who that player is though.

Mario puts away 25% of his chances, Giroud does about 15%.

I wouldn't mind that sort of upgrade. Would equate to about 10 more goals a year.
