I don't see any problem with Fabianski starting. Infact would prefer him to start. It would be a v strange decision to drop him IMO.

All three are good players. The principle is to include Fabianski because he's in fine form and has earnt his involvement. The rest is water under the bridge.

If its water under the bridge the players Szczesny and Koscielny were 3 years ago are rather irrelevant now don't you think?
Fact is they have been/will be first choice in the league all season and rightly or wrongly Wenger sees them as part of our strongest team.
If Wenger plays a weakened team it will confirm what we already know, that he rates the 4th place trophy more highly than an actual real trophy.

If he plays Fabianski it's not a weakened team. Szczesny has been being selected for continuity not a gulf in class. Fabianski's been putting in good performances whenever he's been selected.

Now if Wenger were to fail to select a fit Koscielny on the other hand ...

Wenger's proved beyond doubt that he's taking the Cup seriously this season, his selection on Saturday underlines that.
To suggest that he may not be doing so, and to anticipate that he will not be doing so if he does not play X or Y is for me just creating an argument when there isn't any to be made.

True, Fabianski's been excellent in the Cup games as well.
He was key in our win over Liverpool.

Agree to disagree I guess Biggs.

Fabianski's only conceded one from open play against a series of decent opponents in the FA Cup. The evidence of our eyes and the past couple of years of his performances are enough for me to feel comfortable with his continued selection.

Just kind of handwaving about him being a lesser player doesn't cut it for me.

We've played some of our best football in the Cup actually.
Spurs game was for me one of our most intense and committed performances this season.
For me it's clear that Wenger and the players are really intent on the Cup.

Well he's been impressive in the cup to be sure but I still don't trust him.
The tie is still a month away and who knows who will be fit on form and available then, all I'm saying is that we must play our best X1.

Absolutely. Anything can happen. Szczesny picked the ball out of his net five times at Anfield just a few days before Fabianski put in a solid performance against a similar lineup.

Anything less than fully committed performances will be an indictment of the manager and players. #prideandhonnor

I don't understand.
The players and Wenger have shown massive pride and committment in the Cup this season.
Why even suggest that once they get to Wembley they slack off?
Makes no sense to me 🙂

It's not new at all Burnwinter.
I've parted ways with how the majority of you view this team a few months ago.
You want to look at everything in the context of season's past and wait for what you feel will be inevitable capitulation and disaster, fair enough.
I see something different this season, not massively so, but enough to feel we're not doomed to complete failure.
And we have played some great cup ties so I don't see why I should ignore that because we lost to Stoke.
