the entire backline was all over the place, huge gaps between the CBs, between the CBs and the LB, between the CBs and the CM. what everton was doing wasn't exactly rocket science, but it's exactly the kind of in-game tactics that wenger refuses to think about.

then again, physical therapy and rehab isn't rocket science either, but arsenal is again leading the league in time missed due to preventable muscle injuries.

wenger's ideas were cutting edge in 1996 - he's refused to evolve or adapt since, and now he's the dinosaur.

we've been a mess at the back since verms has come in. i know it's not entirely his fault and the mids are leaving people out to dry, but i'm sure kos would've prevented some the goals we're conceding at the moment.

Kosicelny was on the pitch for all the big moments of this season's collapse. Last time we saw him was against Chelsea and he was pretty terrible. It's a team wide thing, no ones has really looked any good.

agree. they look like they don't know where to stand or who to mark, which shouldn't happen at this level. if we get beat, it should be because of bad luck or the other team put together a disgusting move.

True but what defines disgusting? Every goal (besides maybe long range screamers) are defensive mistakes. Our team does make a lot of them however...

i completely disagree. sometimes a team puts together a brilliant combination and finish that is pretty much un-defendable. when that happens, you just have to hold your hands up and admit it was a good goal, and go and score one yourself.

Scezny's been excellent this season, with the exception being some of the games against the big sides and the opening game against Aston Villa. People don't realize how important his distribution and ball playing ability to out build up play.

His distribution is a nightmare. Of all the positive things you could choose to highlight about Szczesny, why would you pick the game with his feet? He's horrible at it. Basically we never manage to play the ball out of defence under pressure and the reason is that Szczesny, Mertesacker and Sagna are so one-dimensional in their passing that it makes your head hurt. We constantly get stuck in that triangle and ineviteably concede a throw-in which turns into a goal chance for the opponents.

Fabianski has great distribution, chez is generally shit at it. In fairness, he's gotten much better at hitting Sagna on the right wing though.

This is the biggest match IMO since CL final 2006 as there is so much riding on it for us but esp for our crazy old coach.

So won't the stadium be half empty because Wigan don't even have that many match going supporters? Would be well depressing to lose in such an atmosphere. Or do the Arsenal fans get more seats?

Ok this game is pissing me off now. And us fans are making it worse with all this bottle talk.

I know we fucked up recently but there should be absolutely no reason why we shouldn't win this game on Sat.

If Chelsea can win tonight after an up hill battle

If Dortmund can nearly best the might Real Madrid then we should beat Wigan.

We don't need to score two goals or win by any margin, any win will do.

And we are not up against Europe's finest, we are playing a championship team for fucks sake.

I hope these mid week games motivate us and I swear to god if man Utd knock out Bayern and we fail to beat Wigan......

Wigan have only won 1 of their last 5 games. They've lost Martinez too. We have to do this.

This game is fucking massive for us, thank god Ramsey is back otherwise we might of actually bottled it. Win this and it will give us a huge boost to get our fucking act sorted for the rest of the season. Lose this and manager will go as well as our Top 4 hopes

the fact that anyone is even questioning whether we might bottle this, says it all. should be a routine win - same for the final.
