I'm just asking the question, 45mill Euros seems top buck even in today's market, I haven't seen enough of him to form any kind of judgement. Some German fans don't put him on Gotze's level but I'd agree that Bayern got him cheap.

In the summer this deal looks very likely but some rumours doing the rounds we might be bringing this forward like we did the Monreal signing due to injuries. Now will Draxler want to move in January or wait until the summer.....

I reckon Podolski might be going the other way to soften to blow and make it look a better deal. Wenger must be bloody impressed if he pays the buyout clause for him but for not much more we got a world class player in Ozil!

It's a well constructed release clause to be fair to Schalke. £37m is a bit more than what he's worth but it's not so high that teams will refuse to pay it.

Draxler barely touched the ball vs Basel A so not worth a comp. Here's his goal though:

I'd put him right below Wilshere's level at this point.

I have said all along that I think Draxler looks like a young RVP with better pace. Stand by that.

That is the impression I get from what I'm reading about him. Not that I don't want him to join but the fee still seems a bit excessive, hopefully we can strike some kind of a deal with Schalke but I wouldn't hold my breath on that....

Draxler doesn't have much pace.

Compared to Perse he does.

Only ways we can strike a 'deal' with Schalke is if he insists he wants to come to us and wont really consider other clubs, or the unlikely event that no one else is interested.

i like draxler a lot. think he's up there with the best youngsters in the world. fjortoft is also a massive fan.

but i don't think he's worth €45 mill to us. at least not right now. we have several good options in those positions (podolski, wilshere, chamberlain, rosicky, gnabry, cazorla etc).

For 45m you could pretty much get any player you want, Draxler may be worth that in a few years, not now though.

you wouldn't get the best players, or even anyone significantly better than draxler, unless you get a very good deal.
