He had at least 4 or 5 years without a summer break. Definitely will decline physically

I want to rip everything up and start again, but you can see why the club are reluctant to sell one of the dynamic duo though. They're about the only thing Arsenal fans take pride in currently.

Furthermore, we don't know that serious money has been on offer. Rumours of Atletico and Barcelona, but I strongly doubt that ever materialised into a bid.

Next summer, once the club is more stable, the team more balanced, and hopefully back in the Champions League, Lacazette at 28 turning 29 at the end of May, will still be a valuable asset. He'll also have 2 years left at that point, so I wouldn't be offering him a big bump in his wages this summer if I were in charge, with a view to getting back the £40-something million we paid for him next year.

I agree entirely that he looks like the sort of athlete whose performance will drop off a cliff all of a sudden, but I am confident it won't be next season. I would say it's very likely that this will be the best season of his career.

Laca might be able to adapt his game - I think he is intelligent enough as a footballer to do that. If he can transition into a hold up CF with more of a cerebral and physically dominant game rather than pace based he should be able to extend his career a bit. Aubameyang will have to make similar adjustments to his game as his pace also deserts him.

For my money, that is already Lacazette. He's slow and basically Giroud-lite - marginally faster, but shorter and weaker.

we really should sell lacazette this window because his value won't be any higher, and there's no upside left in him. his physical decline will impact his game. he won't be able to create any separation from defenders to take shots, which is something he only just barely manages at the moment. turf him for a striker that will appreciate in value, like haller perhaps

We'd be lucky to get what we paid back, apart from Atletico can't think of anyone else who'd pay big money for him.

i assume holding and bellerin arent going to be ready for the start of the season. AMN is fine at RB for now. we desperately need another CB, and if kos leaves, we need 2.

dump xhaka, mkh and ozil in the midfield. buy a powerful CM who can be the pivot in our midfield, help control things, and put in a tackle. needs to have a 10/10 engine and be mobile, unlike traffic cone xhaka.

if we need to raise funds, then sell lacazette. i know he'll be heartbroken he cant hang out with auba anymore, but we cant utilize him correctly in a weird 4-4-2, hes not suited for the wing at this point, and hes wasted as a backup. if a team in spain offers £55m, sell him.

that above squad is fine by me, though obviously its not good enough to win anything. but we cant raise the titanic in a day. at least i'll be entertained. id use a bunch of the kids as backups. no use wasting money on retreads who clearly arent good enough and will just inflate the wage bill

I would definitely take Everton + Tierney as "main signings" + that "senior CB" Ornstein mentioned a few days ago.

Lemina can come in as Elneny replacement.

I'm interested to see how the Pogba saga unfolds to be honest. Real Madrid will let lose some marquee players and I wouldn't mind if we kept the powder dry for Isco, Asensio, or Casemiro.

None of them will come here. They'll go to Liverpool or Bayern. There isn't a single Real Madrid player of note who's gonna come and play for the 5th-6th best club in England which is now three seasons into Europa League. We need to use whatever pull we have to attract players before they get to that level. We're much worse off now than we were when we signed Özil and Sanchez.

Sure they would. It'd just be the one that throws silly money at them rather than us.

No, I don't think so. Five years ago, sure; it would be just like the Özil and Sanchez transfers, but we're well below that level now. Isco and Casemiro aren't gonna come here any more than they'll want to go to Everton.
