The German goalie don't seem to be coming as his girl clarified the Arsenal jersey was a joke. That would be a decent list although not one player that will bring us to another level. We probably still need one marquee signing to complement those functional ones

If we can actually spend that much this summer I think you need to take Fraser and Carrasco out of that list and replace them with a £60-70 million winger, Clrnc.

We still need a central defender too if Saliba has to stay at St Etienne for a year.

I agree, Klaus. £65m on Fraser and Carrasco would be a poor use of our funds. So would the 150-200k/week they would add to the wage bill.

There is talk of Zaha, and I think it's safe to assume we're one of the five clubs that have made an offer to Nicolas Pepe--obviously unlikely he chooses us over Bayern and Liverpool, but it shows where our thinking is at.

My opinion is that one of either Carrasco or Fraser are the last resort options if we can't get a player as good as Zaha or Pepe to join.

Also, Clarence: Why on earth would Markus Schubert's girlfriend go and buy an Arsenal shirt and then post a picture in it on a private account as a "joke" and then screw when it is made public? I'd say she got told off by Arsenal/agents/her boyfriend, and that it's almost certainly all agreed. As she herself said, it will be announced after the U21 Championships.

That's what it looks like to me too Ricky. I hope we get to see some players leaving soon (for actual fees and not for free) because it would indicate that we're trying to raise funds to balance the books. It would certainly make me feel more relaxed about the summer.

About the players, I really think a starting midfielder and winger is a must this summer. Maybe we actually have a shot at Szoboszlai though, and maybe he's close enough to step up for us next season and contribute significantly in midfield. Even if he's not I hope we get him. I could stand watching someone like him coming up a little short if it meant strong improvement for years to come. Having thought it over I'd similarly settle for someone like Ünder on the wing who's not-quite-there yet either but incredibly gifted.

On Ospina and Bennacer we’ve gained about £8m plus the release of players wages that should add a £1-2m to the budget. So we have around £55m to spend.

Martinelli - £6m
Tierney - £20m
Saliba - £22m

That leaves around £8 plus Elneny sale to get Szoboszlai.

Then look for some loans, Malcom, Ceballos and maybe Boateng.

TBH if we do go down this track then we are truly fucked as a club and have SFA ambition or intent to become the super club we were supposed to be.

We have top10 revenues and over 100m+ sitting in cash reserves as a depreciating asset.
Domestic wage controls end as from 01/07 and UEFA FFP is based over a 3 year period and still allows a maximum loss of 35m at the end of that time.
Our reported 40m budget is likely to nearly double if the Addidas kit deal is front loaded giving us a potential kitty of 150-200m without CL football.
Spend it right and we don't need to sign over the next 1-2 seasons other than fine tuning.
Our revenues re Addidas and the new TV deal are going to wipe out the FFP breach over the following 2 seasons, along with the eventual sale of the likes of Ozil, Mkhi, Mustafi, Xhaka, Kola, Kos & Sokratis.
Yet again if we do not do so now then one or both of MU and CFC are more likely to get their shit together and we'd have pissed away yet another opportunity because of 'traditional values' and other such rot.

Since our transfer budget is extremely limited, and considering that we're looking at LBs, CBs and wingers while still in need of a CM, maybe we should take a look at the guy who was just named AFCON's best player of the group stage? Heard he's available for a very small price.

It makes so much sense to get him in. But there are no news about us doing it.

It should be a no brainer to bring back Bennacer he is 21 years old, has been here before. Has very similar statistics to Torreira in his final two years at Sampdoria, but can carry the ball. His 1.8 dribbles per game was the 13th highest in Serie A.
Compared to Torreira, his passing statistics are roughly the same as Torreira's last 2 years in Serie A (Bennacer 57.9 vs Torreira 62.2), successful dribbles (Bennacer 2.0 vs Torreira 0. 8), Tackles (Bennacer 2.9 vs Bennacer 2.9), Interceptions (Bennacer 1.7 vs Torreira 2.25)
He would be cheap, is on about 11.000 a week. Make so much sense. Would be a huge upgrade over Elneny on less money.(probably an upgrade over Guendozi as well).
