If we are looking at reduced funding then I think we will both look to reduce wages and raise some revenues, as well as then trying to get as much bang for our buck as we can whilst also trying to bring in players to add both balance and meet the needs in terms of style and roles.
Whilst there are other needs in terms of FBs etc, & players who may well be better quality options in several of the positions we need to address, I suspect we will look to players who meet the needs in terms of the style of play, and also in terms of release clauses to stretch our funds as far as possible.
OUT - Rambo, Elneny, Ozil, Ospina, Cech,
In - Navas, Suarez/Fornals/Rabiot, Calero/Manolas/Cahill, Isco, Moraes/, Sarr/Pavon/Lozano
If we are unable to do deals re the likes of Isco & had to concentrate our efforts to 1-2 players at most, then I'd be looking at a CB and winger as the 2 priorities for the remainder of this season.
At CB I'd look at Cahill as an experienced CB who can provide height and passing ability as well as not needing to adapt to the PL and could play from the off - depending upon how much he has declined physically.
For the winger I'd actually look to spend more in order to try to get Pepe as the wide option. I haven't included him in the initial options as IMO he will cost more, but if we can only sign 1-2 then I'd prefer him. The reason isn't just for his numbers re end product (goals, assists and penalties), but more so because of an article I saw recently where he is in the top2 in Ligue 1 this season for winning / regaining possession in the final 3rd, which means he fits Emery's intent re pressing from the front.
