Is Julian Brandt locked for Bayern or one of the mega-clubs? If not, would love him here. Liked the look of him a lot in the WC and have read great things about him even ahead of that. If not Dembele, he could be the WF we are looking for. If we are sliding down the value scale, I'd go for one of Lozano, Neres, Harit, Embolo (in order of value).

Given our budget constraints and diminishing appeal, I think we should look to land Zaha in January.

Most of thats from last season though isn't it? Which could be a sign he's reaching his potential or could just be because he was played up top. And doesn't he have a lot of injury issues? He'd fill a hole in the squad but I'd rather wait for someone better.

His price would also be inflated on account of his HG status and he's a key player for C Palace.

The question is whether you think Zaha is going to become a top class player or not. £70 million today will be £120 million tomorrow when everybody wants him.

To me he has always been likely to kick on at some point in his career. He's one of the best dribblers in the league and his stats have kept improving from season to season for a long while. He's Palace's all-time top scorer in Premier League now, a fact that probably says more about Crystal Palace than about Zaha, but a fact all the same. Their fans think they're blessed to have him too which is another good indication of a player's level.

I'm with Qwiss, I'd rather go for a better option too, but Zaha is a talent. He stands up well in comparison to what some of the top clubs have too. I have no idea what makes people like Willian and Martial better players, for instance.

The Zaha's of this world will cost 70 million, and be a risk. Just the way the market is. We should make Barca a profit on Dembele, because he's a sure thing at this point. It's actually less financially risky.

He's a sure thing to sell shirts, to increase our sponsorship deals, to excite the fanbase worldwide, etc. If he doesn't perform, he'll still make news, divide opinion on MOTD or w/e, which in turn will put us in the spotlight and drive our popularity even more. If he does perform, even better. Either way, we're golden. Any club with our resources would love to spend that money, we've just been too foolish and refuse to play the game. Football is cynical, it's time we grew up a bit. You only really get there by bringing in big money players with global popularity. Aubameyang and Ozil are a start, but they just don't have the same cachet.

Otherwise, we'll just have to be content with living at our level, and maybe picking up a trophy against the odds now and again.

Chaps 25 already if he moves for €70m now you'd need to get really lucky to sell him for €120m in future.

The thing about clubs like Palace though is that they can demand big money for players like that because they have little use for it as players of that quality wont sign for them. They can't do what Liverpool did with Coutinho and just buy 2 quality players instead. So it makes sense to demand over the odds for a player like Zaha.

To be honest, it's becoming a bit of a miss by Wenger to reject him back in the days where he was still in championship and begging to move to us because we got someone similar in Gervinho. Although that claim might be abit of a stretch given that he flopped at United
