Kwadwo Asamoah on a free transfer this summer might be interesting. His ceiling is sky-high but he has rarely reached it since the difficult knee surgery a few years back. He'd probably spend a chunk of time injured too, and he's not getting any younger. Still, a midfielder and a leftback rolled into one, and he's arguably better than what we got on both positions.

Bring us some solidity. 5 new starting XI signings does not seem likely and Koulibaily is a pipe dream so would settle for Koscielny in there for another year and possibly the donkey Xhaka in for Thomas/N'Zonzi. With a tough cunt manager like Simeone we'd be able to grind results out in the short term at least and be competitive again.

Wenger says the way back to the top is to turn to our youth academy. He's not talking like a man that thinks he's going to be the one overseeing it, but he says in the next 2 or 3 years we're going to see a core of players come through together.

Maybe we need to go full mid-80s and get rid of a few of the big time charlies and let 4 or 5 kids come through together? Certainly worked back then. Football's changed so much though...

With the age of our squad we definitely need to bring a crop of players through. We need more young players to get excited about. Totally agree with goon about needing a manager who will make that possible, maybe even rescue some of the 21/22 year olds in the first team.
