Worringly small amount of rumours regarding us at the moment. I can't see us not spending more this summer, but I'll be pretty nervous if deadline day comes and we still haven't done our business.

I think we're done with the big signings. Wenger would rather sit on the money for another year than sign anyone else but the exact player he wants. It's why we've had Giroud for the last three years.

Not even any crazy rumors around these last few days. Right now, I wish we were at least linked with Kalou and Oba Martins. 🙁

Agents and papers have finally seen the sense and are not linking us with every player in the universe, since they know we only buy and want top quality. Sign of times.

Wouldn't be a surprise if Wenger let us down yet another summer. It's what he does.

Wenger may want to buy top quality, teams may not want to sell.

If we don't strengthen it's because Wenger is overconfident in some of the rabble he already has at his disposal, not because there weren't attainable players on the market. It's a weird flaw for a manager to have, especially someone who is so outstanding in most other aspects. He literally has to see some players fail and cost us a season before he fixes the problem.

That isn't completely true in my opinion. He may have an unreasonable amount of belief in some players but he looked to upgrade on Giroud after just his first season as our first choice forward. Neither Higuain nor Suarez worked out but then first investing in Welbeck and then trying Walcott up front shows that he is cognizant of our need of an alternative. He is just interested in absolutely top quality right now for some positions. It's just that it might be harder to induce Real Madrid to sell their first choice forward when they aren't looking to sell than other lower teams that have a bright talent they would like to keep.

There are other positions like left back and center back or central midfield where he might show irrational belief but he does get more out of players than most managers do. The forward position is very different though.

I'm actually warming to the idea of Lacazette if we can't bring anyone else in. The guy has an above average touch, pace to burn and is an excellent finisher. Would offer what Theo does in behind but would be much better when it comes to holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

We won't be getting Ibra, Cavani, Benzema, Lewandowski etc. so we should really consider players in the next tier as upgrading on Theo/Giroud is not as hard a task as some are making it out to be.

Then i would rather Aubameyang. Lacazette is rubbish.

I'd take Higuain if Benzema etc aren't available.

If we can't find a striker, we should bring in a goalscoring winger, central midfielder, central defender or left back. Plenty of positions in this team that are easily strengthened.

Yeah, I'd hope a fallback plan for Benzema is a LB and/or a DM. Those positions are not very strong. Our fullbacks look terrible right now to be honest, I can see that becoming a problem in more difficult games.

I love how Gabriel is unoroven because er haven't seen Villarreal matches, while he would have been proven og he played for a team more of us watch.

Pretty much my take on it as well. I never watched him play for Villarreal but they were doing incredibly well defensively when we signed him - presumably before his stock rose any higher. Had he stayed on, he would probably be getting more recognition for being part of that team. Instead he's now been given effectively six months to settle into the team.

I think the signs look promising for us.

He isn't proven in England. Coming from Spain to England is a risk factor in itself. Some succeed, some fail.

Could say that about any new signing from abroad - and that's where the scouts/managers earn their chops. But at the end of the day it's England, not Mordor.
