And we do not need to go mental on costs. Balotelli should be available. Mascherano is still only 29 and can fill in at centre back as well. Add those two and the team is instantly better. It's not always about Cavani and Gundogan.

Who would you replace Szczesny with? He's probably been the best 'keeper in the league this season.

Replacing Walcott isn't that easy either. I think his reputation isn't doing him any favours. He's a much better player than he was a couple of years ago. I would go as far as saying he's one of the most dangerous attackers in European football.

Saw him against City and the guy's passing has really improved, remember him being an ok passer for Liverpool but his range looks a lot better now.

I know Spanish release clauses have been discussed to death here, but it's 4 AM, I haven't slept in forever and I can't remember the conclusion. 🙁 In short, if his release clause is 32M, can we simply pick him of for that sum, or is there more to it?

My understanding: he would be responsible for paying out his own clause, which depending on the exact scenario, might mean we have to pay him the amount plus whatever tax he incurs as it passes through his hands, so he can pay on the amount to his club without penalty.

What "the exact scenario" amounts to legally is unclear, but from what I've heard, sometimes it works this way and sometimes it doesn't.
